A white pigeon, apparently from across the border, with “some words written in Urdu” has been found in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district, police said on Friday. Naresh Kumar, a resident of Motla village in the district, had on Thursday spotted the bird at his house. He noticed something written on its wings in Urdu and brought it to the notice of police, which took the bird into custody.

The pigeon is suspected to have flown into the Indian territory from Pakistan. The avian was “inspected” by the sleuths of security agencies and an X-ray scan was also conducted on it.

“Police found some numerical digits stamped on the bird’s wings. We are trying to ascertain if it is a mobile number and if the pigeon came from Pakistan,” said DSP, Mukerian, Bhupinder Singh.

“There is a stamp and something written in Urdu on its wings. Besides, an eleven-digit number was also found on its body,” SHO, Mukerian, Jaswinderpal Singh said. “We got the writing translated…Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday is written on the pigeon’s body,” he said. Officials from the state intelligence and the Army also inspected the bird, police said.

Last year, a pigeon with some words written in Urdu was found by villagers in the Bamial sector of Pathankot district, which is just a few kilometres away from the Indo-Pak border.

Write anything in URDU/ARABIC in the rest of the world. You will find what happens next very quickly.
People in my school have Arabic script tattoos and t-shirts with Arabic calligraphy is quite popular here. We even have a calligraphy class which is a part of the "arts" subject.

It's considered quite beautiful and artistic to the rest of the world.

Abdul Qayoom got entangled in the barbed wire fence and was apprehended by the BSF while his fellows fled back to Pakistan side of the border.
A day after a balloon flying along the international border in Hiranagar, in Jammu and Kashmir, caused anxiety when people who mistook it for a Pakistani drone, the Border Security Force apprehended a suspected Pakistani terrorist while making an attempt to cross over to India at Pargwal in the Akhnoor sector on Friday morning. Identified as Abdul Qayoom, son of Bhag Ali and resident of Sialkot, the arrested person is stated to be a prized catch.

Though BSF officials were tight lipped over the matter saying that his questioning was in progress, sources said that a mobile phone and two SIM cards were seized from his possession. Sources said that he was frequently changing his statements.

Sources said that Abdul Qayoom along with ‘four other terrorists’ had come close to the international border around 4 am. However, while trying to sneak into the Indian territory, Qayoom got entangled in the barbed wire fence which alerted the BSF troops. As soon as the alarm sounded off Abdul Qayoom was apprehended by the BSF while his fellows fled back to Pakistan side of the border.

After the terror attacks at Poonch and in Uri, security forces along the borders have been on high alert.

The first one was on suicidal mission inorder to create panic, he was also carrying secret message of Hafiz Saeed to his assets in coded language

The second one (current case) was on recon mission, his duty was to monitor and provide information about Indian deployment pattern near LOC. Too bad, he failed in his mission. We need to update training of our ''Kabotar Force'', these Indians are very sharp now.

Please don't tell me what US thinks about Muslims and Arabic writtings. The amount of hatred ISIS have created in the world anything arabic or even punjabi looking guy are treated as terrorists. I am happy your school didn't had any such racial biasedness.

That's great. They can use all of these news to put an end to the hateful war mongering and senseless call for nuclear war. Put an end to it as they pour water on the flames of hatred and provide the govt some relief from the pressure.

Use whatever news you want. Just get it done.

Yeah and most likely what would be common in them is that both would be innocents. Oh Sorry I mean three of them

Good job by Punjab police and resident.
In the 1990s militants in Kashmir used to frequently use pigeons to communicate among each other.
With the rise in electronic interceptions there is a chance that use of pigeons to pass on codes could rise again.
