huge target ...well we might get chinese ship destroyer missiles

the word you are looking for is anti-ship missile (AShM). And the chinese C-803 might be the missile you are referring to.

But the Kolkata class is stealthy. And it has a good radars and sonar. The combination means that it is likely that Kolkata class will detect enemy vessels/aircraft before they detect it, giving it a significant advantage: first-strike.

And it packs a mean punch to deliver that first strike home, with the Brahmos missiles, barack-8 missiles an varunastra torpedos against enemy ships, planes and submarines respectively.

It will be a hard task to bring down a Kolkata class destroyer. A submarine would be the best choice. But once India gets P-8I, the task will be made all the more difficult.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

you got it.

yeah china de dega aur fighter aircraft sadui de denge.......

dud its just a thought any way strategically it is a giant target and is hard to hide at seas and if detected it ll be one of the prime targets ...missles well we already have many to sink this baby there was no need of s**t sarcasm ..

thnx dude for a good discussion im sick of those troll posters..
any way im actually reffering to uav and other optical sensors its a giant which may give it speed but very less maneuverability ...i dont remember the name but americans lost a destroyer in ww2 ai had a huge signature in optics and japs were able to fire on it madly until the subs arrived...also evading small torpedoes and cruse missles can be a problem..
thnx

I presume that you have no idea of the contemporary communication equipment and the capabilities of a modern destroyer.

Not only India, but all tech savy nations have networked thier sensors.IN will be having their dedicated sat from this year while off-loading the burden from civilian ones. And many more advanced sats were planned sololy for IN in the next couple of years.

In order to sunk a modern destroyer, you need either an AShM(ship/AC launched) or a long range HW torpedo or a sabotager. the 3rd one is most likely an one way journey. While the first 2 needs high end weapon systems.

since the Indian stealthy destroyer is our target, lets take a look at its sensors and offensive/defensive suites.

It does carry 2 ASW helis exclusively for sub hunting or over the horizon detection and tracking.More over it carries a towed array sonar system for Sub detection. This makes it highly difficult for any enemy sub to come near by and also its stealthy( low vibrations and less noise)structure makes it hard for passive sensors. It lurks at a top speed of over 30 knots.Bring your sub with its HW torpedo with a max range of 50 km and a top speed of 50 knots? The ships defensive systems will trigger.

to launch an AShM ,you need to track the ship first.given its stealth(not 100% LO,but enough to fool 3rd word systems) it will be an herculean task to detect the ship using your ship bourne radars.Because the LOS at sea will be no more than 50km. You need over the horizon tracking systems(like helis or AWACS). Taking the consideration of the sensors this P-15A is packing in ,it can detect and track areal targets beyond 300km.And in case any AShM or aircraft fly by ,its LRSAM with a 70km+ range will shoot it down.If misses the second line barak SAM will hit it at 10km range.Even it misses that, the CIWS will bring the target down.

Given the sub-sonic missile capabilities of PN it will be highly impossible to bring these destroyers down.

But if the enemy is spotted in less than 300km with over the horizon radars,a brahmos console will initiate a launch that flies in a low-low to take advantage of extra range ( in a low-low the total range is over 400km)

Bottom line is that, P-15A will be laying the stone for future surface combatants.P-15B,the next line will be entirely a new world. Good luck sinking these ships.

sir thnx for the info but im already awar of these systems ...im not saying that this ship ll be any thing but a easy target ...every ship in the world can be sunk ..method of doing so is different with every ship ..i agree it may have state of the art defensive sys with sat recon but my argument is styll there a small un detect able uav can detect ,engage or at least laser lace the target ..then it depends on the crew and officers frm both sides they ma use 76MM guns or missles ...once detected stealth can only help for some time because in all militarys soldiers r taught to rely less on tech because no matter how good it is ..it canot help in a head on engagement...
also Brahmas or any other missle the opponent is also not a noob and will apply maneuvers to avoide detection..
thnx
