Chennai: The Indian Navy has turned out to be a 'weak area' for China in the Indian Ocean and the Asian neighbour was not happy with the Indian naval presence there, Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sureesh Mehta said today.

"Today the Indian Navy is the weak area for China.:rofl: We are in the Indian Ocean and it is not easy for them to come inside. They are not happy and concerned about this", he told reporters here.

On Beijing's help to build strategically located ports in Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, he said China was constructing such "dependency ports" to gain access to the Indian Ocean and to be present in larger numbers in that area".

To a query on China building its military might, Mehta said India has no intention of catching up with China on numbers. However, he stressed the need for India to possess smarter and more sophisticated weapons.

"Even if there are 10 ships with us, they should be smarter and better", he said, adding technology should play a active role in ensuring this.:rofl:

The respected Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sureesh Mehta has said much more then this, most of which is not flattering to Indians. Still he is entitled to his views, both individually and as Chief of Naval Staff.

However India is not just its navy.

If we cant dominate the ocean that bears our name then whatz the point of calling it Indian Ocean? I think Admiral Sureesh Mehta recognize it and the Naval modernization plan is part of that strategy. Quality overrides Quantity!

Indian naval presence in Indian Ocean MUST be concern for China, as well as any other country in the world.

India should dominate Indian ocean with it's navy power.

Indian Ocean today, Pacific and Atlantic tomorrow. We will leave the Arctic Ocean for our Russian friends and Antartica to the penguins.

Friends now you all know what am trying to say? Build or buy lethel weapons which are way ahead than enemy weapons. Example brahmos is a pin-point accurate missile that can hit target in one blow right in centre. While enemy have to launch atleast 3 to 4 missiles to hit that target (possiblity it might still miss target than too). Brahmos is a missile that can brake war ships into million pieces. There is no defence for incoming brahmos missile. China has 45 frigets. All india need is 45 brahmos missiles (india's target is to produce atleast 1000 brahmos missiles in short time). Our navy got the brain. We cant match china by numbers. Its useless having numbers. We want weapons that can hit target in one blow. Its a idea by america who suggested this idea to india and accepted it 2 years (thanks to former president bush). He the one knew importance of 'indian ocean'.

China once said Indian Ocean i snot India's ocean and since then India is trying hard to pace up with China ,, But evan China cant ignore India's Influence over Indian Ocean and hence he is trying hard to Pace up with India.

Two years ago indian navy and american navy met. There was all the press reporters were present. An american reporter asked our indian naval chief how can india become blue water navy? Our naval chief said we can become blue water navy by having latest weapons. He said india not looking for numbers (like chinese navy). Than suddenly american naval chief shake hand with our naval chief and said thats the way india should approach. He said he proud on indian navy and indian navy amazed me by so much desipline. He said america will help india to achieve a superior navy in world as truely blue water navy. India signed P-8I, india got war ship that can carry 1000 navy mens (including defensive and offensive weapons). India will get alot more weapons for navy just like we getting for our airforce like super hercules, phalcon (its because of america who let israel to sell this to india), we also in talk wit america to have heavy lift helicopter like chinook etc etc. We are getting get engines too, radars including lethel missiles. Our navy is eye'in on JSF F-35, aircraft carrier in future including lethel more war ships etc etc. india will be superior military in asia due to america, israel, france and russia. Whats more benefiting is most countrys offering technology to india. India the most importan country in world due to 'INDIAN OCEAN'. India will be unmatchable in indian ocean in next 5 to 7 years. New aircraft carriers, P-8I, jet fighters for navy, new submarines like scorpian, nuclear submarines, more lethel war ships like 'shivalik', alot accurate missiles. U name it and india having it in next 5years. Cheers

Friend china cant do much about india in our own 'INDIAN OCEAN'. lol. They cant match india in future. Just by having numbers wont make chinese navy superior against indian navy in future. i have seen most chinese war ships. They looks like fishing boats. Only some chinese warships are bit good. Remember always friend India good at defending. China can only dream about indian ocean. Indian ocean is crown of india. If china dares to think about indian ocean than india would make grave yard for chinese navy in advance. India already hinted china what happens when they enter in our area. Cheers

Friend Brahmos As a true Indian i appriciate your enthu but relaxx ,here we are talking about China and not bangladesh or Mayanmar.. We should be war ready but not War mongers.

Uh, one question here boys: If China is so concerned then why are only Indians excited, but Chinese "unaware" of this "concern". :o

when Chinese knows that they can't make any excuse to escape from a truth, they just hide.

杀鸡儆猴.........Indian ocean is the challenge we have to face if PLA want to build up a blue sea navy, cut the meaningless oral crap let's see where this competition is going

Yawn.... only areas NEAR to India is Indian territory. :) You can't "forbade" others from using the ocean. Just like Japan or US or Cuba can't forbade any body from using the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean.
