© Victoria Police Detectives are investigating following a sexual assault at a Melbourne library last month.

A man is being sought by police after a woman was sexually assaulted outside the State Library of Victoria.

The 20-year-old woman was standing outside the Swanston Street library on July 27 about 6.30pm when she was approached by an unknown man.

He struck up a conversation with her, before asking to give her a massage.

He then sexually assaulted her.

Police say he then told the woman he had to catch a train from Melbourne Central station and left the scene.

Detectives from the Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse investigation team are investigating the incident and have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the assault.

He is perceived to be of Indian Sub-Continental appearance, aged in his mid-20s to early 30s with a solid build, brown or black curly hair and dark coloured eyes.

At the time, he was wearing a red jumper, dark pants, light-coloured sneakers and a watch.

Anyone who recognises the man or with any information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au

It said Indian Subcontinental appearance....not an India. Let's not jump to conclusion based on our bias and hate...what if he turned out to be a Pakistani?

He could be anyone..

This thread starter is a racist whose ancestors were not civilized people and killed aboriginals mercilessly.. They weren't considered civilized in the last century. He will make a thread against Pakistanis or Bangladeshis next.

I am glad Austrlians and South Americans agree Indians are trouble makers

The biggest problem is people of whole of the subcontinent get judged because of them. The western people can't difference by looking at people from any of the SAARC countries and label all as Indians. The have the stereotype that Indians are smelly, whereas Muslims of the subcontinent really take care of their hygiene but fall victim to the stereotype.
