LAHORE Central leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chief National Peoples Party in Indian Occupied Kashmir Syed Saleem Gilani has said that Indian security forces are committing worst human rights abuses in the valley.
He said that the Indian forces are brutally killing unarmed Kashmiri people who are struggling for liberation. Since 2010, at least 117 Kashmiris have been martyred. All were unarmed and none of them was carrying gun, axe or even wooden club, Syed Saleem Gilani expressed these views while addressing TheNation Forum here on Tuesday. Senior Vice President National Peoples Party (Azad Kashmir Chapter) Dauood Ahmed Khan Yousafzai, President Istaqlaal Party Syed Manzoor Ali Gilani, Secretary General Mian Irfan Akram and Syed Ali Shah Gilani were also part of the delegation.
Earlier, the delegation led by Syed Saleem Gilani met Editor-in-Chief TheNation Majid Nizami here at his office.
Syed Saleem Gilani paid rich tributes to the Editor-in-Chief TheNation Majid Nizami for his untiring efforts for Kashmir cause. Majid Nizami is as popular and respectable in Indian Occupied Kashmir as he is here in (Lahore) the heart of Pakistan, he further added.
Addressing the Forum, Syed Saleem Gilani said that peace and trade in the South Asia region is linked to the resolution of Kashmir issue. All the roads of peace, stability, and friendship between Pakistan and Indian pass through Kashmir, he added. He also warned that peace could not be maintained in the region until and unless Kashmiris are given self-determination as per the United Nations resolution. He also said that Kashmir is not bilateral issue between India and Pakistan and no solution would be acceptable against the will of the people of Kashmir. He said that according to the constitution of the APHC, the United Nations resolution should be given priority as far as the solution of Kashmir dispute is concerned.
Syed Saleem Gilani further said that if the backchannel diplomacy (between India and Pakistan) was aimed at creating constructive atmosphere for the solution of Kashmir then they would welcome it. But if someone, through it, is trying to find out solution for the Kashmir issue, we will straightforwardly reject it, he emphasised. He said that the international community could play an important role to resolve the Kashmir dispute. He also suggested that United Kingdom and European Union should play key role to resolve the issue.
He also suggested that all the political parties in Pakistan should get united to form a uniform policy for the Kashmir cause and this unanimous policy would prove effective and result-oriented that would help resolve Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, Syed Saleem Gilani said that he was visiting Pakistan for the third time since 2001 and here he found great affection for the Kashmiris. He also warned that New Delhi was hatching conspiracies to damage lovely-ties between Pakistanis and Kashmiris. He also urged the political parties and civil society to be aware of the Indian designs and not to fell pray to Indian conspiracies.
