Randhir Kaur, a 37-year-old dentistry student at the University of California, San Francisco, was found dead in her Bay Area apartment last week after attending prayers at a local Sikh temple.
A woman from India studying dentistry at a California college was found shot dead in her apartment just hours after attending prayer services at a Sikh temple, said authorities in Albany, Calif.

Randhir Kaur, 37, was reported missing by her colleagues at the University of California, San Francisco, and was found by a family member shot once in the head March 9 at her apartment in the San Francisco Bay Area, police there said.

Police say the student, who was scheduled to graduate in June 2016, had attended prayer services Sunday at Gurdawara Shaib in El Sobrante before returning home to study for the evening.

Authorities say that’s when she was shot — but why and by whom remains unknown.

There was no sign of forced entry, but personal items belonging to Kaur, stolen from her apartment, were found tossed in the trash some two miles away in Richmond. Her car was found parked and locked outside her home.

A resident told the San Francisco Chronicle that a friend found the murdered woman’s black Coach purse and a bag of bloody clothing inside her garbage can. Among the items inside were her dentistry school identification, credit cards, wallet, a camera and an empty cellphone case, according to the newspaper.

Kaur was believed to have been shot sometime after she attended afternoon prayers at El Sobrante Gurdwara Shaib, pictured.
The woman made the find before Kaur’s body was found lying on the floor of her apartment.

The dental school described Laur as “a beloved friend, student and colleague.”

A candlelight vigil is planned on campus for 5 p.m. Monday.

The temple Kaur attends was the scene of a fatal shooting in 2000, when a man armed with an AR-15 killed a founding member of the congregation inside the ornate building because he was upset he was not allowed to address the congregation, according to a Chronicle story at the time.

so sad to hear about a fellow professional being killed so horrifically

RIP

may be it's case of a racial attack

. . . .
There is just something wrong with the recent increase in violence against gurudwaras and temples in the US.

Won't label their nation as a racist one but there are definitely some elements that want to cause social tensions in different parts of the US.

The government must investigate this thoroughly.

May the lady's spirit find eternal peace in the world Beyond.

Leave that hellhole. A nation of bigots does not deserve your professional service. Let them wallow in their own post-modern anti-culture. Your brilliant mind should serve China/India/Pakistan, or at very least a friendlier foreign nation.
