An Indian national and his wife who were arrested after being found living in Australia without valid visas are to be deported.

An Indian couple detained after they were allegedly found living illegally in Australia will be deported to India, the Australian Border Force has said.

ABF officers found a 37-year-old Indian national and his 35-year-old wife at a property in Griffith last Friday while investigating a tip-off on illegal labour hire activity. They have been taken into immigration detention after they were found to be without valid visas.

An ABF spokesperson told SBS Punjabi that arrangements are being made to deport them.

“These individuals remain in immigration detention while arrangements are made for their removal from Australia,” a department spokesperson said.

Officers also recovered some documents allegedly related to illegal labour hire work.

ABF Field Operations Commander James Copeman said they were particularly targeting people who were organising illegal work in regional areas.

“Illegal workers are often underpaid and poorly treated, and those facilitating their employment are making significant profits at their expense.” Commander Copeman said.

The ABF did not comment on whether any illegal labour hire contractors were apprehended.

A spokesperson said the ABF is working to “detect those who are influencing demand for cheap labour hire through the recruitment, supply of foreign workers, who are often then the victims of exploitation.”

The Department of Home Affairs and Australian Border Force work closely with partner agencies and the community to address the exploitation of foreign workers and systematic visa fraud within the migration programme.

Why do Indians come here when they keep saying India is beautiful, a future superpower etc? Why don't they just stay in their wonderful country?

Actually on a human note this is not a story to be happy about. One must wonder why they left their homeland to go to Australia for a better life? After many people in countries like India and Pakistan have amazing lives and would never leave for a foreign land. Additionally the desperation for a couple to risk everything and overstate illegally speaks volumes. Sure we all brag about our countries but if they are that great why do we leave?

They also break line to be on boat first , sometimes sit on different seat in plane in wrong seat number.

One time , my flight was delayed , for 30 minutes and then it was announced an Indian had sat on Pilot's seat , and refuse to move, When pilot asked him to go sit in his own seat, Indian person stated it was racism

Australia should have tighter immigration control like India does.
In this case an Aussie was deported from India straight from the airport.

Maybe they don't have the expertise or the funds. India should give Australia a grant and invite their immigration officials to teach them how to work.
