Couple in Uttar Pradesh forced to become siblings
IANS 15 October 2009, 12:21pm IST
|

LUCKNOW: Repeatedly slapping a love-struck couple with shoes for their 'illegitimate' love affair, an Uttar Pradesh village council forced them to
tie a rakhi and become siblings, police said on Thursday.

The incident occurred late Wednesday in Kukra village in Bijnor district, about 350 km from here.

Pintoo Sharma, 30, and his 28-year-old lover were brought before a village panchayat when they were found sitting together in a garden on Wednesday evening, locals said.

"Initially, the duo were asked to slap each other; when they refused some members of the panchayat and villagers started beating them with shoes on their faces," Hardhar Kumar, a local, told reporters.

"Later, Sharma was forced to touch the woman's feet as a sign of acknowledging her as his elder sister, while the woman was made to tie a rakhi on his hand. As a part of their punishment, the panchayat also ordered them to move to different villages," he added.

Police have initiated an enquiry into the matter, but no arrest has been made as yet.

"At any cost, we will not allow the panchayat to behave in an autocratic way. Stern action will be taken against those behind the incident," police inspector SK Saxena said.

I am with topic.

While you are talking about Hindu Panchayat, I am talking about muslim panchayat consiting of Mullah's.

Both from India.

GB

I am not talking about the Hindu Panchayat at all.

And if you want to discuss Hindu-Muslim issue or Panchayat then open a new thread.

We here are talking about this news

Thanks

:woot:

And I thought for Pakistani Posters....Times of India is a stupide news paper that only highlights ....Indian Propaganda......Hmmmmm...interesting....

There are two kinds of publications.

1. News reports that is limited to reporting the incidents as it is which called on-spot reporting

2. Artciles, analysis and view points which can be propaganda as well as fair.

Although western newspapers have started a new trend of mixing proaganda in the news items too but that is only limited to news about Pakistan, Islam, Afghanistan, and Muslims where the western and Indian media try to insert their biased propaganda or views in bewteen the news item while reporting an incident.

On a fair note does your argument hold any substance or is it going to eleminate the issue on ground?

@garibnawaz

Obviously you don't know what the cas was about really. The question that was asked in the rape case was posed as a willing sexual intercourse between daughter - in - law and father not a rape. Based on that, the marriage was annulled.

If the person who questioned had clarified that it was a rape case, then ruling is completely different and the rapist is punished (at the extreme case with death) without any annulment of marriage. So get your facts right

Besides you are unnecessarily going off topic.

Mahesh Bhut you gota read this one ... Stop copying Hollywood Films when your own country is full of stories .

and the objective of posting such news on Pakistani forum is? Nothing but to show people bad things about India.

Why worry I am also pointing out some more such things happening in India.

:) Have I ever stopped you from posting whatever you want to post about rather against Pakistan that too on a Pakistani forum?

Now get over it and try to post about the thread.

Ejaz his problem is that he has taken up a Muslim name but failed to prove it anyway that is his personal affair.

I am constantly asking him to refrain from derailing the thread specially when the thread is not at all about Hindu-Muslim issues but about the moral policing which prevails in both the societies as well both the countries.

A muslim woman was raped by her father in law (ofcourse muslim).

The council of mullah's declared the father in law as her husband and her original husband as her son.

Funny Jana doesnt read and post such news here as she always wanted to point out how Indians are bad etc.

GB

The original news was not based on religion but the enthusiasm which you have shown to post a news regarding a Muslim girl shows that you do not consider the Muslims of India as your people else you could have shown any Pakistani similar incident.

This couple belongs to same " gotra " in english it roughly translate to same "clan ".

Now its taboo in some section of hindu societies of north india, to marry within the same clan as every memeber in the clan is considered as part of one big family...and marrying anther clan member is viewed as incest by the clan members and very strictly prohibited.

There are some instances of couples being murdered by their own clan members even by own family members when they broke the rule ans got married in the same gotra.

Similar stories here.. conveniently called Karo-Kari.

:what: thanks for information.

We have seen the practice of not marrying outside the clan specially in Rajput families in Pakistan.

but marrying within the clan as a taboo is a new thing for me
