What stops inhabitants of Brahmin Raj from reverting to the old ways? The concept of shame and covering up women's upper body was introduced by Muslims and Colonial era English people.. why is there so much social inertia in moving away from these non-native ways in independent Hindu Rashtra?

Most of the paintings show that both the men and women were generally semi-naked.
Maybe your pictures represent foreigners from around South Asia or maybe the clothes were painted much later.

Both paintings are dated from same era.
Which means both styles were prevalent.
Similar garments also observed in 6th century Chola paintings.

Also there is ZERO proof and not even any mention of editing of Ajanta cave paintings in any book or journal or article or resesech apsper of any kind.

My fellow Indians, the OP here has to put down another religion/culture to soothe the insecurities of his own. Such misled people should be dealt with sympathy not logical reasoning. I hope he finds a mentor who could guide and teach him to remove any lack of understanding that he currently possess. Also, look at the countries these guys who post such threads stay in -- it's usually the western countries. Islamaphobia is on the rise here.

My advise to you is to change your mosque or mentor so you get true and real learnings. It will make you feel better and stop you from insulting other muslims by posting petty threads on other cultures.

Not once have I said the Muslim way of dressing or the Islamic influence on Indian clothing is superior.

I'm just curious why Indians don't go back to their old ways devoid of Islamic influence despite so much hatred, violence and genocide against Muslims.

You don't need to look far, Al-Biruni wrote in detail about it. Inluding kurtas, dhottis, dhuppatta.

Nobody dissociated from Islamic history of the subcontinent in fact we are taught in detail about it in schools.
