Indian, Chinese troops celebrates India's Independence day

Border troops of India and China jointly celebrated the Indian Independence Day in Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, pleading to maintain peace, stability and tranquillity.

In keeping with confidence building measures between the two armies, a Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) was yesterday held along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) at BPM hut at Chishul in Leh district of Eastern Ladakh sector to celebrate the Indian Independence Day, a defence spokesman said here today.

The Chinese delegation, led by Senior Colonel Awng Yang Dei, was received by the leader of Indian delegation Brigadier YK Joshi, the spokesman said.

The tricolour was hoisted as the delegations saluted the Indian national flag, he said, adding that the meeting was held in an atmosphere of mutual trust.

Greetings were exchanged and both the sides agreed to maintain peace, stability and tranquillity in consonance with border peace and tranquillity agreements.

The friendly interactions between the two forces have played a significant role in promoting and strengthening bonds of mutual trust and confidence.
