SRINAGAR (Dunya News) – Social media users reacted angrily on Friday after pictures showing Indian army dragging a tied dead body of Kashmiri youth on the streets.

The people strongly condemned the action and criticized the army for their aggravated human rights violations in the occupied valley of Kashmir.

Indian troops in their fresh acts of state terrorism martyred at least eight youth in Sopore, Kupwara and Riasi areas of the territory yesterday.

Of these martyred two were killed in Sopore, three in Kupwara and three in Jhajjar Kotli area of Reasi. All of them were shot dead during cordon and search operations by Indian troops.

Indian army pressed gunship helicopters into the service during the operation in Jhajjar Kotli. The authorities imposed restrictions and suspended internet services, while educational institutions were closed in the name of precautionary measures.

On the other hand, the Joint Resistance Leadership has described the statement of new UN rights chief, Michelle Bachelet as a ray of hope for the people of occupieed Kashmir, facing the brunt of human rights violations at the hands of Indian occupation forces. The leadership in a statement in Srinagar expressed grave concern over the inhuman treatment meted out to the political prisoners in different jails.

A complete shutdown is being observed in Sopore, Langate, Handwara and Zaengeer areas of North Kashmir against the killing of youth. Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership.

Meanwhile, the United Nations has listed India and Israel, two best allies, among 38 shameful countries, which carried out reprisals or intimidation against people cooperating with the World Body on human rights, through killings, torture and arbitrary arrests.

Moreover, the annual list released by the White House continues to place India among the countries that are major transit points for or producer of illicit drugs.

Why so? It’s time this is highlighted.. when your countrymen can rile up hatred on extremists and known militants here who behead and kill innocents - we have a right to show a State machine engaged in similar activities.
Please be assured that discussions in Pakistani insurgency threads also have raged on excesses. But this is specific to Kashmir and will remain so.
