Gurj Division of Indian Army is carrying out exercise Gurj Prahar somewhere in the Western Sector (Plains of Punjab) these summers.
The exercise, which commenced on May 1 would continue till May 20. While providing details, spokesperson of western command said that the exercise is aimed to validate and enhance operational readiness, test battle procedures and the synergy between the Army and the Air Force, in a joint operations scenario.
Around 8,000 troops, combat vehicles, tanks, artillery guns and surveillance systems are participating in the exercise. The exercise affords an opportunity to commanders at all levels to exercise their command and control, integrating the latest state-of-the-art assets of reconnaissance and surveillance into a network centric decision making matrix.
The mental and physical robustness of the men and the endurance of the equipment will also be aptly tested in the scorching summer heat.
