In a rear International competition of Main battle Tanks , which is becoming quite famous in Military circles , Indian Army will be sending its most experience T-72 Tanks crews to Russia to participate in Tank Biathlon Championship , India will be among Twelve countries -Angola, Armenia, Belarus, China, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia and Venezuela – are set to take part in 2014 Tank Biathlon Championship outside Moscow starting today 4th August 2014.

China will be only country which will bring its own locally build Battle tanks , while Indian Army team will be given Russian T-72B Tanks from its arsenal so will be countries from other countries , which predominantly operate Soviet era T-71 tanks .

Russia will provide 6 weeks training for all the Tanks crews who are participating to give them equal opportunity and to get them accustomed to the machines and exercise at a special range , while competing with each other . Russia has promised more obstacles for the crews and longer seven-kilometre-long track, a cross slope for a vehicle’s manoeuvres.

Each team will score points on each engagement and only four tank crews will reach the finals, idrw.org wishes Indian Army tank crew all the best . and Hope Next time Indian Army can take Arjuns and shows it might .

Good. We'll see how good/pathetic indian crews are.

I expect a good performance from them though..

indian tank crews' training isn't that inferior to that of Pakistani tank crews' training..so I expect indians to do well

Bro do not post BS. The Martial race (It's new race :P) do not need any training. They can beat any one hands down. Makr my word ek tank so so ko mare ga.

Why didn't they send Arjun? It would have been a good learning exp. for crew and we'd came to know more issue/ strength of it.

Nice training I believe ....

Honestly, if we have even 1 operational crew well versed with the tank, we should send an arjun. or send atleast half of what we can field.

even if we get trolled to death. honestly..

There are more than 120 Arjuns in IA service to date- there will be hundreds of crews trained on the type what are you talking about?

Look closely- all the tanks are of Russian origin, this is why the event is for operators of Russian tanks only, I doubt the Arjun would welcome.

aren't the chinese bringing their own ?

we can push for our own too..

i haven't been keeping track of arjun..i would love to know how these machines do against a trained crew against a t72.

i'm sure the chinese pushed for their own tanks..indians sure will like to know about their arjuns too.

You think the IA needs these kind of nonsense events to test the Arjun's mettle against the Russian products? You really haven't been paying attention to the Arjun project- the IA help comparative field trails between the T-90 (forget the junk T-72) and Arjun Mk.1 and the Arjun spanked the T-90 in pretty much every respect. The Arjun is one of the better MBTs in the world of that have no doubt.

The only issues with it are the high cost (Mk.2s are said to cost $8MN EACH- would come down with serial production and larger orders) and the fact the IA has been operating medium size Russian MBTs for decades in vast numbers, switching over to a heavy class MBT (Mk.2 is 60+ tonnes), which very much has a Western design ethos incorporated into it, is going to take come time to work out as all the infrastructure for the Arjun has to be put in place- maintenance, logistics, transport, training, procurement etc etc. Once the Mk.2 is in service and proves its worth (a more modern tank with more of what the IA would like to see) then larger follow-on orders will surely follow.....
