Army personnel's wife found dead in Mathura, probe on

The wife of an Army personnel was found murdered in Mathura Cantonment area, police said on Sunday. The body of Gayatri Devi (50) was found lying in bushes near Eagle Ground on Saturday evening and police are yet to make a breakthrough in the mysterious murder.

"The investigation is on progress and we expect to work it out shortly," Superintendent of Police (City) M K Sonkar said.

The body was recovered a couple of hours after Gayatri Devi, a resident of Balajipuram in Sadar Bazaar police station area, left home for market.

"Prima facie it appears that she was beaten up by iron rods...," the police officer said. Gayatri Devi was living with her daughter-in-law as her

husband was posted in Mumbai and son working in Gurgaon.

Police have ruled out the possibility of loot as motive as gold chain on her neck, rings and the purse containing over Rs 800 were found intact.
