In what is a serious blow to the image of the Indian Army, administrative and disciplinary action has been initiated against 41 officers, one JCO and four retired officers for allegedly selling their personal weapons in the grey market.

Minister of Defence AK Antony, in a written reply in the Parliament said, these were non-service pattern weapons that are sold at dirt-cheap rates to the officers for their collection. These are not weapons of the Indian Army. Antony said, a Court of Inquiry was held to enquire into the circumstances under which some serving/retired army personnel had sold/purchased/disposed off firearms and ammunition of various calibers.

The District Collector, Sriganganagar had provided a list of officers who sold their non-service pattern (NSP) weapons, which included two Major Generals and two Brigadiers. The Court of Inquiry however did not find them involved/blameworthy in the matter. 25 officers who were in possession of more rounds of ammunition than authorised for their NSP weapons have been censured.

India News: Forty-one serving and four retired Indian army officers and are facing action for allegedly selling non-service pattern (NSP) weapons in the black market in the border districts of Rajasthan, Parliament has been informed.

Two major generals and two brigadiers are also included among the accused. Defence Minister A.K. Antony told Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that action was being taken against the serving officers.

Officers can buy prohibited weapons, such as 9 mm pistols or .30 bolt action rifles, from ordnance factories at cheap prices for personal use. These are called NSP weapons.

The 41 officers posted in Rajasthan were selling the weapons in the grey market with the help of arms dealers. Antony said a court of inquiry was on in the case. Civilian authorities in Sriganganagar had provided a list of officers who had sold their weapons. Among them were two major-generals and two brigadiers.

No surprises there, it seems to be a pattern,

The Indian Top Brass were even involved in blood money in what became known as Kargil Coffin corruption.
The guy behind "Tehlka" scandal is still licking his wounds.

Yes corruption is rampent in our system no denying that, I heard a recent news where pa was paid in millions for a French submarine deal. Guess you are not claiming to be holy. This is most related to corruption then weapons as we are talking about pistols and bolt action riefles.

Oh so sorry guys,were those weapons meant for u??? Did u pay the money and arent sure that what happens next to it?? :tongue: or were these the same weapons used by TTP??(but last I heard they use automatic weapons like AK-47)

Please get your facts right, the above had nothing to do with the Pakistan Army, the culprit was a Naval Official, who was eventually dragged back from Washington and made to cough up every penny and unlike Indian defense minister, George Fernandes, went into oblivion.
As for corruption, were the IA Officers passing on weapons just for fun.

.
Is this an effort by indian establishment to distence themselves from these indian aramy officers??? Because Paklistan already given proof and recently stated they have more proof of indian involvement in terrrorism inside Afghanistan and Pakistan. Regardless, indian involvement and state sponsorsip of terrrorism is beyond evidence and proof. Just like indian state sponsorship of LTTE terror was all known and recognised.

Thw NSP weapons are licenced weapons which these personell have ( & can only be ) sold to valid licence holders hence there is no chance of finding its way to terrorists. Anyone who has applied for an arms licence would know & realise the kind of verification checks that are done before an arms licence is issued.

Once a weapon is procured, it has to be produced to the Distt magistrate before it is endorsed on the licence of the purchaser.

Yet, they did wrong as the weapons are not meant for resale.

Nobody here has any illusions about the events dude. They just want to cover up their rhino under our mat. They may feel happy that it covers it, but even they feel the horn they have in their ***.:D
SO you may stop your honest attempts to enlightne them and spend time on worthwhile issues.:tup:

@others:
:blah::blah::blah::blah:
Tell me when you see those terrorists in your cities 'create havoc' with bolt action rifles.
