Chief of Army Staff Gen Manoj Pande on Sunday left for Bangladesh on a three-day visit for closer bilateral coordination and cooperation on a host of strategic issues, in his first trip abroad after taking the reins of the 1.2-million strong force.

Gen Pande travelled to the neighbouring country less than a month after Bangladesh Foreign Minister A K Abdul Momen visited India during which both sides appreciated the “trust and mutual respect” in the fast-expanding ties.

“Continuing with the excellent bilateral defence ties between India and Bangladesh, Gen Manoj Pande, the Chief of Army Staff has proceeded on a visit to Bangladesh from July 18 to 20,” the army said in a statement.

It said the visit will further deepen the bilateral relationships between the two armies and act as a “catalyst” for closer coordination and cooperation between the two countries on a host of strategic issues.

The Chief of Army Staff is scheduled to hold one-on-one meetings with the three service chiefs of Bangladesh besides meeting senior leaders of the country, officials said.

The army chief will commence his visit by paying tributes to the fallen heroes of the Liberation War of 1971 by laying a wreath at the ‘Shikha Anirban’ on Monday.

He will also pay tributes to Bangladesh’s Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at his memorial in Dhanmondi, according to the army.

“On the second day of his visit, the army chief will address the students and faculty of Defence Services Command and Staff College, Mirpur,” it said.

Gen Pande is also scheduled to interact with members of the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support and Training Operations (BIPSOT), a premier institute which trains peacekeepers for employment in various UN Peace Operations.

This will be followed by a visit to the Bangabandhu Military Museum at Mirpur.

The overall strategic ties between India and Bangladesh have been on an upswing in the last few years.

In March last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi travelled to Bangladesh to attend events organised to mark the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and 50 years of the War of Liberation of that country.

In reflection of close ties, India also hosted a number of events to mark the 50th anniversary of the 1971 war that led to the liberation of Bangladesh.

Around 93,000 Pakistani troops had surrendered before the joint forces of the Indian Army and the “Mukti Bahini” on December 16, 1971, that paved way for the birth of Bangladesh.

Whatever floats their boat.

Another Chai-Pani routine discussion visit. Bring it on....

.
It seems Indians change their Army, Air force, Navy chief frequently and these type of visit in BD happen almost every month by them. What are the underlying motives for such frequent visit?

.
কিছুদিন পরপর এরা কেন আসে? হুদাই।

No.

They want something, neither side making any statement probably because no one wants to publicize it for now. He or other top Indian Defence officials would not be making these trips without something to sell.

No , not true , service chiefs normally have a minimum 2 year tenure. Since 1994 there has never been a chief who has served less than 2 years
What are the underlying motives for such frequent visit?
Improving military to military ties.

By the same logic, Kolkata folks get a good dose of molmutro right? No wonder I could sense that you feel our pain!

We shall offer him hilsha and cow manure for lunch. Depending on which one he chooses, we decide whether he is a worthy opponent or not.

Hilsha for lunch and gobor for dessert!

Dhaka [Bangladesh], July 18 (ANI): Indian Army chief General Manoj Pande, who is on a three-day visit to Bangladesh, received a Guard of Honour at a convention centre of Bangladesh Armed Forces in Dhaka on Monday.

“General Manoj Pande COAS received an impressive Guard of Honour at Senakunja Bangladesh. He also planted a tree to commemorate the friendship between the two Armies,” Indian Army tweeted.

“General Manoj Pande COAS laid a wreath at ShikhaAnirban and paid tributes to the #Bravehearts who laid down their lives for the Liberation of Bangladesh,” it said in another tweet.

The Indian Army chief is visiting the neighbouring country to further strengthen defence and bilateral ties between the two nations.

The year 2021 marked the Golden Jubilee of the Liberation War of Bangladesh and 50 years of diplomatic relations between India and Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh enjoy robust and multifaceted bilateral cooperation in diverse areas, including trade and connectivity, energy and power, water resources, border management, defence and security, culture and people-to-people links.

As part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh, both countries celebrated Maitri Diwas on 6 December 2021 in India and Bangladesh. Maitri Diwas was also commemorated in 18 countries – Belgium, Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Russia, Qatar, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Japan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates and the United States of America.

The India-Bangladesh relationship is an important element of India’s “Neighbourhood First” policy. The year 2021 was of special significance as both countries celebrated 50 years of diplomatic relations, five decades of Bangladesh’s independence and the birth centenary of its Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

India and Bangladesh celebrated 6 December 2021 as “Maitri Diwas” (Friendship Day) in New Delhi, Dhaka and 18 other world capitals, to commemorate the day on which India extended diplomatic recognition to Bangladesh in 1971.

The cooperation between the two countries is also to be seen in combating the Covid pandemic. India gifted 3.3 million Covishield vaccines to Bangladesh to assist in its ongoing effort to fight the pandemic. This was the largest tranche of Made-in-India Covid-19 vaccines gifted to any country by India. (ANI)

Bangalir "gorbo" bolen. "New Indian"."Muslim Biddesh (Hate)" is fashionable in India nowadays.....

Historically Bengali Indians were tolerant and generally got along very well with us Bangladeshis. Friendly banters aside, there wasn't really much tension between people in either side of the border. We always had that ethnic connection keeping us close.

Now we are seeing more of these Bhakts in WB. Kudos to BJP in turning a moderate state to another of their radical hell hole. Little do these Bengali Bhakts realize that their Northern masters think of them nothing but useful idiots.

The BJP expansion in WB was the result of WB Indians being too tolerant on uneducated and low class immigrants from Bihar and UP taking over their labor and Gujjus/Marathis taking over their businesses.

Apner ma-bonera Kolkata'i giya je shari ar goina kiney, ta Bangalider dokan thekey kinena, Gujju ar Marathi-rai oi poisha pai. Ar oi poisha dia BJP politician-der paley. Hotel restaurant er malik o tarai. Kolkatar Bangalira byabshar dharey kaseo nai - shudhu college street er boi-er byabsha ar new market er machher byabsha chhara.

As we all know - some educated Bengalis only aspire to "babu"dom, Administrative Naukri (Chakuri) or techno-bureaucrat profession is more honorable than having a business.

This is the end result. Even some Y-gen Bengalis in Kolkata can't speak Bangla nowadays, most of them can't even write it. Signboards are in Hindi and English mostly. But one day things may change I hope.

Koidin porey Kolikatar Bangalira "nij deshey porobashi" howar chance 100%.
