Indian Air Force faces major challenge after losing 7 aircrafts to accidents in 3 months

So many armchair experts on here quick to bash the IAF (including the writer of this article) but the fact of the matter is that the empirical evidence does not support the notion that the IAF is inherently prone to more air losses than any other modern air force. This is the world's 4th largest air force let's not forget- 6 crashes in 6 months is hardly abnormal.

The last year figures were freely availble (2012-13) the IAF registered a crash rate of 0.22 per 10,000 flight hours- a figure that is more than comparable with any Western air force. When you consider the IAF is still heavily reliant on aged machines like the MiG-21/27, Cheetaks, Cheetahs and Mi-8s this is rather impressive really.

Secondly,who told you that Non Hindu's don't join Indian arms forces.Don't you know anything about Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw who played important role in the creation of Bangladesh....

Bro every air force pushes its men and machines harder. Even PAF also faces the crashes because of obsolete fleets.
In IAF. the situation is worst than any one else, Consider Russia, China, USA, They all are operating much bigger airforce than IAF but their crash rates are much better than IAF. China and Russia both use a large number of obsolete planes.

China lost two Brand new J-10 this year and 7-8 in 5 years . We don't even know actual figures of Sukhoi copy crashes . Rusia and China are no longer flying obsolete jets so don't brag about them . large part of Russian Mig-29 fleet is grounded due to air frame defects .

Your brand new tried and tested Sukhois are also crashing, c130 also crashed, BAE new trainer crashed as well.
China is still using 120 a5 Which are much obsolete than IAF mig 21s. Compare the Chinese air force size and their crash Numbers.
7-8 in 5 years in PLAAF and and 7 in 3 months in IAF . i hope you know the counting.
