Indian ACM wants Gripen over F16/70 for single enmgined mmrca

.
So bharti airforce is climing down from 2 engine to 1 engine policy, following PAF footsteps... as usual!

What's wrong with Mig?

lol There are different categories, Heavy, Medium, Light. The current acquisition is for light category thus single engine. Stop standing flying come down and stand on land. May be then you can see things as they are.

At that time, China will have 500 plus J20, several hundred J31, 1000 J10b/c/d, 200 plus J16, 600 Plus J11b/d and numerous other fighters. India is not a rival at all. Not to mention if the growing force of Pakistan airforce, at least operate 60 plus FC31 at that time. You are overwhelmed, zero chance to win.

@BATMAN IAF is done, they can't compete with PLAAF.

We dont have to compete with PLAAF. We only need resources enough to defend our territory.

.
why choose F16 blk70 over gripen

is not the f16 blk70 is superior to gripen

So so wrong.... no one is following paf... do you realize we have a huge number of single engine low end fighters mig21... these are to replace them... we're getting rafale and fgfa as twin engine

What's the logic in keeping such development a secret?

What s3cret... i think you missed out of pdf sometimes..... it very open we've signed for 36 and once the deliveries begins might order 12 follow ups

Lol..do you even realize not all those fighter will be deployed to take on India.... have you forgotten something called Hymalaya??? And the jets taking off from tibet can't carry the full loads..
Oh yes the chinese stealth fighter we're worried :D
And we'll be having fgfa and rafale what can they compete against!????

HI We still have and will induct almost 272 sukhois,36 rafales and 69 mig-29 all twin engines, thats almost 377 twin engine Heavy/medium aircraft for you,How can you support your statement, however what i understand pak is looking for atleast 40 heavy planes of heavy 4++ gen to protect sea lanes and or having some sort of offensive capability, but due to money holding on to defensive doctrine.like sitting duck.

Nothing wrong with MIG but we would like ,more capable aircraft in medium/LWT category may b F-16 BLOCK 70 with AESA radar and next gen BVRAAM,or Grippen NG with METEOR missile, seriously very difficult to choose which one of them.

Handling over 4-5 different kinds of Aircraft will be a Disaster .. and costly too
Do understand, but we are role based offensive airforce(future wars will win on air superiority) and we are huge short of aircraft to complete 42 squadron according to our threat perception, and regarding the money all in budget advantage of improving economy every year so can manage.

Surgical strike is the wet dream, modi is selling to a hateful nation.
Bharti airforce didn't had balls to fly in Kargil.... which was an active war, and yet you believe in this idiocracy!
Hi only IAF fly and strike and not PAF,What nonsense are you talking.

Read blog by Kaiser taufel and clear your doubts.Below is link.

Given a choice between JAS 39 and F-16, India should pick Swedish fighter any day. However both India and Sweden would seriously have to ponder on the question of engine, should a deal progress.
Gripen is a mighty fine machine and India has a better chance of striking a more favorable deal (in terms of Tech transfer etc) with Sweden than Uncle Sam.
One more thing, should Sea Gripen project fructify, India would have a chance to induct the same for its navy, something we cannot say for F-16.

.
Can't argue with the poster that suggested plaaf can over overwhelm Indian military.

You can't beat a nation who has a GDP five times your size and massive industrial cpacjty to lbuild their own fighters

And same time Pakistan will never be able to beat India for the same reasons

It is spelled Gripen, and Gripen NG was a demonstrator built on Gripen D.
It is not something that will be sold.
The Gripen E/F is whats on the market.

These are all speculations. If Trump shows as much sincerity as Obama showed in improving India US relations, then Modi will choose F16. If not Gripen has an edge.

US lobby organisations are preparing lawsuits to stop an MII production of US designed fighter jets.

Not only production of new aircrafts, also spare parts and maintenance will have to go through India
for remaining F-16s in US inventory.
Also, the US will not be able to control what goes into each delivery.
When sold as "yet another disastrous deal by Obama, destroying US defense and moving jobs abroad",
what will be the next tweet by Trump?

LOL. Actually the IAF bombed the sh!t out of your people, and it was the PAF that was MIA.

https://defence.pk/threads/migs-over-kargil-how-the-fulcrum-buzzed-the-falcons.229863/#post-3810657

“Analyses by Pakistani experts revealed that when the rubber met the road, PAF simply refused to play any part in support of the Pakistan Army, angering the latter,” says the report.

On the one occasion that the PAF had the balls to get airborne, this is what happened - from your own veteran pilot:

On this occasion, I gather the Indian MiG-27s did cross the LOC briefly and the local NLI commander who was having the crap bombed out of him called in desparately for support- the PAF, which had been frustrated at having to sit it out till now, saw an opportunity to bloody the IAF nose as they were reported to have crossed the LOC. Two Falcons on alert were vectored into the MiGs, but received the jolt of their lives when an IAF MiG-29 locked onto BOTH of them. They tried to break lock- but the MiG persisted, and while I do agree they could have pressed home- there were some controlling factors:
1) strict orders not to cross the LOC
2) Hell, they thought they were about to get a salvo of R-27s up their noses...as an aside, one of the Falcon pilots was a greenhorn and was pretty shaken by this experience - got razzed to death for weeks afterwards.

I hope the Indians just order more rsfales and mass induct tejas.

Another singled engine fighter is too many combat types unless India plans to phase jaguars and mig29 early ie by 2030

In which case by 2030.

Su30
Rafale and mirage 2000
tejas
F16 or gripen

Is a lovely bslaced potent fleet

.
IF and I AM NOT certain that it will happen then by 2027

IAF will end up having

36 Rafales & 50 mirage2000/5 from france
270 SU30MKI & 60 mig29smt from Russia
123 Tejas/lca from india
120 gripen or f16/70

AND WHO KNOWS if FGFA comes as well

ITS WAY TOO MANY COMBAT TYPES

They should order the Rafale F3 & stick to LCA
t
you forgot 100 upgraded jagaur strike fighters
