India will always be the country with the potential.

It is exported to many other nation and many are service in India. We produced and operationalize 30 last years. There is only one incident of accident so far. On other hand china exported 4 chopper and one fell down immediately resulting in closure of order.

China also imports ships.
India's warship imports have become negligible since past years when our shipbuilding industry used to be a joke.

We have been exporting coastal warships for start and now we have sanctioned a deal for exporting corvettes (Indian Corvettes are usually comparable to other frigates in size).
So, obviously step will be up for billion club entry.
And at the pace, India has been building up destroyers and frigates, same will be repeated with frigates too. Coastal ships was just a start.

We removed the word "potential" from cases of breaking into world's biggest economies (which was a potential predicted in 90s ), fastest growing, operating largest armed forces etc..

Mauritius commissions Indian made patrol vessel, receives two helicopters

Mauritius has commissioned into service its new patrol vessel CGS Victory for the National Coast Guard as well as two Chetak helicopters for its Police Helicopter Squadron.

The equipment was delivered by India and commissioned in a ceremony last month in Port Louis that was attended by Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth and Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar in the first such visit of an Indian defence minister to Mauritius.

"The CGS Victory has now joined the ranks of CGS Barracuda, CGS Guardian and other ships of the Mauritius Coast Guard," Parrikar said, adding that the induction of CGS Victory and CGS Valiant in mid-2017 will considerably enhance the ability to monitor and patrol the island nation's 2.3 million square kilometre exclusive economic zone (EEZ).

The supply of the two Chetak helicopters is in line with India's commitment to augmenting the capacities of the Mauritius Police Force, including in the critical area of search and rescue, he added. The two refurbished helicopters were donated by the Indian government.

The 50 metre long CGS Victory was built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) in India and funded by a Government of India Line of Credit. She was launched in February 2016 and handed over in India in September. Sister ship CGS Valiant is also being built by GSL.

GSL said the CGS Victory is primarily designed for coastal patrolling, anti-piracy, anti-smuggling, anti-drug surveillance, anti-poaching operations, and search and rescue operations. It is fitted with a 30 mm CRN-91 cannon, 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm machineguns and has a top speed of 35 knots thanks to water jet propulsion. At economical cruising speed, it has an endurance of about 2 000 nautical miles.

In accepting the CGS Victory and Chetak helicopters on 10 December, Jugnauth said that the acquisition is yet another milestone in the country's long journey towards enhancing maritime safety and security, especially in the combat against poaching of marine and fish resources, illicit activities, including drug trafficking and other types of transnational crimes.

Jugnauth announced that the India will assist Mauritius in an integrated development project known as the 'Trident Project' which will cater for appropriate infrastructure and facilities and would involve the construction of a new National Coast Guard (NCG) headquarters at Fort William, upgrading of repair facilities for the NCG vessels and construction of a dry docking facility with flotilla support services.

The value of the project is estimated at $70 million and will be financed jointly by the Government of India and the Government of Mauritius at the ratio of 80:20, respectively. For this project, funds to the tune of $52.3 million will be provided under the Indian Line of credit and a one-time grant of $4 million will also be made available by the Indian Government. The remaining $12 million will be financed out of local funds, the government of Mauritius said.

In March last year the island nation strengthened its maritime capabilities with the commissioning of ten 14.5 metre Fast Interceptor Boats (FIBs) from GSL. The bulk of the FIBs will be used to conduct day and night patrols and periodic Special Forces Operations (SFOs) in shallow waters. Each boat has a top speed of 35 knots with a cruising speed of 20 knots, along with an endurance of over 200 km. The boats were ordered along with machineguns, ammunition and body armour for the crews.

The Mauritius National Coast Guard on 14 July last year inducted a third Do 228 aircraft into service to patrol the nation's coastline.

Reliance Defence Delivers 'Ice-Class' Bulk Carrier To Shipping Firm

Mumbai: Reliance Defence and Engineering on Wednesday said it has delivered another 74,500 DWT new, Ice-class Panamax Bulk Carrier "Sea Amber" to an international customer.

"Thus far, Reliance Shipyard has delivered seven similar size, Ice-class Panamax Vessels to its international customers," the company said in a statement.

"The ship has been built as per one of the best-in-class international standards meeting the toughest environmental emission norms as well as fuel economy."

These are the largest dry bulk carriers of their class built in India.

Reliance Shipyard with the largest dry-dock in India has used a unique modular construction technology for building large ships for both commercial usage and the Navy, the company said. The fabrication facility is spread over 2.1 million sq. ft..

It has a lot to do with the topic because Singapore pays India shit load of money to host their planes on Indian territory. That also qualifies as military export. When your pea brain evolves enough to understand that arms exports constitute hardware and services, with services constituting almost 60% of the pie, then start a thread. NEW DELHI: In an attempt to get away from the tag of world’s largest arms exporter, India’s defence industry is gearing up to find a good market for export, as PM Narendra Modi led government has planned to export weapon systems worth over $2 billion (two billion dollars by the end of 2019. If it happens, it will be one of the biggest push to local defence industry as part ‘Make in India’, which is exporting nearly Rs. 2000 Crores this year.

Talking to media in an event in the national capital, defence minister also said that at least 16 to 17 countries have evinced interest in Indian systems like Brahmos, Akash and Astra missiles part from howitzer guns.

Manohar Parrikar added that India was keen to sell weapons systems to friendly countries and Vietnam, UAE and Mauritius figured in this list. Moreover, the ministry was pushing private and public sector defence undertakings to promote products like bridge laying machines.

“An independent export promotion body will help the Indian industry to achieve the target of two billion dollars by 2019.The government will initially hold the export panel’s hand and later it will be self-sustaining body,” Parrikar said.

Maintaining that export never got priority in the past, he said the present regime was determined to give a fillip to promote ‘Make in India’ products through exports and managed to touch the Rs 2,060 crore mark for the current fiscal year from Rs 1,100 crore two years back.

Parrikar also said that at least 17 countries are in discussion with Indian shipyards to acquire warship from India including Vietnam, Bangladesh and UAE.

"We are exporting warships to many countries like a private shipward is giving to Vietnam. Several other countries like Bangladesh and UAE are among 16-17 nations are in discussions with India for supply of warship." Manohar Parrikar.

Countries like Vietnam had already shown interest in buying the indigenously designed and manufactured Brahmos supersonic missile capable of hitting a target at 290km. Asked if the deal was in the offing, Parrikar refrained from giving a direct reply and said “Vietnam is a friendly country.” He added that India was training Vietnam pilots for SU-30 fighter jet flying and helping that country in capacity building. Replying to another question if India was considering supplying arms to Afghanistan, Parrikar said if is a sensitive issue but added “Afghanistan is a friend.”

Meanwhile, on setting up another production line for single engine fighter jets, Parrikar said a decision will be taken once the Strategic Partnership clause for producing weapons is finalized in the next few months. This partnership entails selecting a foreign equipment manufacturer who will forge a joint venture with an Indian company to build strategic systems like fighter jets and warships.

Indians in here start to brag that India is ahead of China in space race to the moon because India will have a man on the moon by 2020 while China have no such plan until 2025.
