Have to admit this looks awesome, finally India has a world class airport for a great city to welcome visitors and citizens. It only took 30 months to finish this and bigger than a lot of terminals around the world, the design is just awesome, congrats to Mumbai and India, awesome, awesome, I love it and can't wait to land there if I ever return to India.

"The terminal’s design, by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the New York-based architects behind the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, was inspired by India’s national bird, the peacock. Traces of the motif are present in the towering columns and marble flooring."

Are you the same guy on SSCi? Define what you mean by "the most cosmopolitan city in India"?

Once you find out the definition of cosmopolitan then you will know what I mean.

Just goes to show that India can build world class infra in record time and cheaper than China, cost is everything and this new terminal is fast going to become a travelers delight. Everything about this terminal spells classy, it's in fact a engineering marvel.

Beijing's old terminal 3 alone cost $4 Billion

The Beijing airport is a lot bigger if I'm not wrong, the Mumbai airport can handle 40M people

1.New terminal is able to handle more than 40 million passengers per annum.
2.It has a 9 storey parking with a capacity to park more than 5000 cars.
3. Its hanger is big enough to park more than 100 planes.

Whatever the state of India, at least India is trying to improve itself and for it's people as well. I criticize India a lot but also I can see the good about India. India may have some terrible problems, but India is trying with the limited resources it has to change things and give it's citizens a better life. All this new infra they are creating is only going to help the Indian people in the long run, when we went to India we landed at the old terminal and it was pathetic, now if we ever go back to India, at lest we will be welcomed to a gorgeous, warm and classy new airport, once again congrats to India and its people.

Some money could be given to the people who live in the Mumbai slums...
According to the United Nations, one billion people worldwide live in slums, and
55% of the population of Mumbai live in slums, which cover only 6% of the city’s land. These rather disturbing numbers are well accompanied by the following photos.

Thank you for your suggestion on fund allocation.

GOI should be allowed the liberty of deciding where & how to spend its money just like GOP has to spend its money including the given by Uncle Sam for the ' services' provided to it in the WOT.

In any case what does this post & that at No 12 above have to do with the topic ?

Not so cheap man.. This new T2 terminal is only a part of expansion project of the existing air port.. You are here compairing the cost of a new airport (45m/year capacity) with a new terminal of an existing airport(after exp project 40m/year capacity).. A new air port project- Navi Mumbai air port(60m/yr capacity )is also going on in mumbai...
