Wish my childhood was awesome enough to play this with Sukhoi tyres. :D

Neither...I sont like the idea of a military coup but India options are not many due to climate of corruption. Sure if you wanna wait 50-100 yrs with NO Gaurantee, then the current goverance andpractice of democracy in India is acceptable.

Well then its on indian society they are real culprit here

We are but not entirely. We really need to understand our history and our shortcomings. Its very easy to see China in a negative light but you fail to see the brillance in what they did and why they did it. They did not want to be a nation of slaves to the West. You cant expect a population like India with very little educated ppl to pogress properly unles steps are taking at the earliest to get them up to speed on how the world is and how it behaves. Blaming society is not the right answer...blaming our polticians especially the ones who were there in the very beginning for this sad state.

And a military coup is the answer? Grow up pal..

On the other hand, I doubt governments are the answer, especially with the Indian structure and pile of issues.

India is a special case where corruption is so widespread that people at the top cannot do much. You do something with good intentions and some clown opposition member will rally the uneducated masses with false information and reasons to stop you. Corruption in India starts from the peon and ends at the top. How do you fix that? I don't know, but 50 years and corruption always increases in India.

People who saw the emergency rule under Indira Gandhi have said that everything started running on time, even the trains departed at the minute! (I am guessing this was unheard of). A country like India needs a strong leader with a trusted team below, atleast for the duration of a 'cleanse' process, after which normal government can take control. Its almost like austerity measures for corruption. Government in the current form simply cannot solve the issue not matter what. Military coups are not the answer but it seems like emergency rule shook up the country in the 70s, overnight. With that in mind, it seems that authoritarian rule has a lot in common with the emergency rule.

I also believe they need to ramp up Indian government employee salaries and impose very harsh punishment for any officials being dishonest. I have heard of government employees with a base salary, say 'x'. Their total compensation seems to be made up of 'base salary'+ bribes as opposed to base salary + bonus. Sadly, the bribes are easily in the range of 5-10x base salary!

Honest government workers will be pressured into dishonesty, simply because of 1) Cultural expectations - Daughters and dowry. More dowry = better bridegroom, socio-economically. 2) Life can be hard if you don't play along - people have been 'transferred to far/remote places for disagreeing/ not helping out in the bribe process. 3) $$ incentives - base salary is low, compared to similar jobs in the private sector(that is changing now, but very slow), everyone around you is making money but you are not. There is just so much to deal with. It seems easier to fix all of this with a dictator ;)

Sometimes....a coup can correct the wrongs. There have been very successful coups with the public backing. The issue in modern times is other countries wont allow such coups to proceed unless they get gain some sort of leverage.

What's your solution ...wait another 50 fukin yrs for Congress to clean up? Have you seen the sad state of Amethi today. Have you ever visited the place? Are you aware of its literacy rate? Yea look in the mirror and grow up....for you sitting in the UK ...you dont understand the plight of the poor in India...

What a typicall attitude - our country is fucked up, everything is corrupted - so let someone else take over and fix everything with a magic wand, so that I don't have to get out of my comfy little chair.

Democracy is worst form of government......

But there is no alternative to it....

There is nothing typical about it.....for a coup to be successful ..everybody has to be a part of it to make it work properly. There is no magic....sorry to burst your bubble

Unless you are planning any role for yourself in an army coup except that of a cheerleader, then you are passing the buck.

Army coup will not solve anything - our generals may be better than our politicians (that's a very low bar to cross), but they are still human beings with selfish motives, greed, stupidity and all other human failings. They don't have any magic wand that allows them solve 67 years of disfunction.

Agreed I dont trust most of the generals either .....I just wish for something better, quicker, etc. Wishful thinking I guess...but like you pointed out....such coups can go either way.

MRF is set to emerge as a major supplier of tyres for the Indian Air Force (IAF) as the country’s leading tyre maker has now created yet another record of supplying aircraft tyres for the defence.

After successfully producing and supplying tyres for Indian defence helicopters, the company has now started supplying indigenously developed tyres for Sukhoi 30 MKI, the most advanced fighter aircraft group in the IAF fleet. The main wheel tyre for the Sukhoi was unveiled on Saturday.

The development marks one of the significant steps in defence’s indigenisation programme. MRF’s supply is to result in significant savings as its tyres will be priced 30-40 per cent lower than the tyres the IAF used to procure from outside the country.

“We are the only Indian company to make tyres for Indian defence helicopters and aircraft, and with this, we will be among the very few global tyre OEMs that supply aviation tyres,” said Arun Mammen, Managing Director, MRF Ltd.

Though MRF has been supplying tyres to various vehicles of Defence Forces, its journey to supply aviation tyres began in 2001. After meeting all requirements and securing approvals from various authorities, it started supplying helicopter tyres for Chetak fleet in 2008. In the same year, it took up the project of developing main wheel tyres for Sukhoi 30 MKI. By working with various entities of Defence Department, the company came up with indigenously developed fighter tyres, which have been tested for ground speeds of up to 420 kmph with loads in excess of 18 tons per tyre.

After completion of the tests, the product has been cleared by CEMILAC (The certifying authority for Military aviation) for commercial production in 2012. These tyres are being produced at its facility at Medak (Andhra Pradesh).
