India train crash: Death Toll Raised To 309 After Odisha incident

Sad to see that. Its just disheartening. Sympathies with the families.

Allow me to say and when I say that, don't come after me, if Modi could have done something on the ground as compare to what is being promoted through propaganda media; there was more of a possibility to avoid such a tragedy. At-least, we try to be safe and the rest is up-to fate which in case of Modi, seems to be nothing but personal promotion. Honestly, Pakistan has the same lot of crooked & double faced politicians that loves to remain in optics, does everything for PR and keeps media close to them. Most of the times, announcements & inaugurations are smokescreens, tall claims are made to fool the mass and quality is shown merely to brainwash people. None of them lot ever needed public votes since system favours the famous. Either the types of Modi or corrupt Pakistani politicians, similarities are shocking.

India is the world's most populous country in the world. Unsurprisingly, their British-era railway infrastructure is struggling to keep-up with the explosion of babies.

Plus, I very much doubt their train carriages are built with the latest safety standards in mind.

I remember when such accidents happen in Pakistan majority of bakhtoras start cheering and trolling Pakistan (I fully remember reaction on PIA accident a couple of years ago) but honestly I myself found my heart in grief and distress after listening this news.
Some would cheer when a bomb blast would take the life of many.
Nonetheless it is a very sad situation for those affected.

RIP

More likely due to broken of railway signaling system
happened due to human error and plain unluck.

A goods train came on the train for express passenger train, the passenger train hit the goods train from behind and deraied.

The the same derailed train fell off to another track and was hit by another train that came minutes later.

So most of deaths was caused in over crowed cheapest general bogey used by migrant labours going from engal to Chennai increasing the death toll substantially.

Any body travelling in Indian trains would say Indian railway infrastructure has improved vastly last 10 year not withstanding what happened yesterday due to human error and plain unluck that another train came minutes after one train was derailed and bogies spilling over to other track.

300 dead and 1k+ injured from some 12 coaches that were damaged. That's some high-capacity coaches.

The bogies that were majorly impacted were overcrowded general class bogies used by migrant labour travelling from West Bengal to industry hub Chennai.

sounds like a safety hazard.

sounds like a safety hazard.
Not happens everyday, month or year.

Yesterday was black Friday, the overcrowded labour class general coaches at the front of the passenger trains both going Chennai and Bangalore from Kolkata were impacted skyrocketing the casualty figures.

AC 3 tiers and AC 2 tiers was also heavily damaged but causality figures are less because they weren't occupied beyond capacity.

While I don't claim to be a rail enthusiast, it appears that only Indian trains feature two-tone color schemes with blue stripes:

Bengali trains use a green/yellow color scheme:

No, it's a local train from Bhaiya land. Note the ECR (Eastern central Railways)

Another way to identify is electrification of tracks. Most if not all Bangladesh trains are diesel.

You quoted other user, but i still want to answer.

Railway lines and trains are from British era in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh.
Mostly Indian considers they have good trains, but all these 3 countries have scraps.

It will be good if railway lines are replaced with new ones and trains should be privatized.
No, things have changed alot in years. Accident happened on "trunk route" i.e. Calcutta-chennai main route. it is one of the busiest route and well maintained route.
Accident was reslult of system failure, passenger train entered the track on which there was a goods train.

Doesn't matter... it can be put as an example for three countries.... India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. All three have the same issues.
No comparison, Indian railway the largest network in Asia and second the world. It tranport 30 million people use Indian railways daily often without incident.
