India pressed to share Mumbai evidence with rival - GEO.tv
NEW DELHI: In the days after the deadly Mumbai attacks, India demanded that Pakistan crack down on militants, shutter charities linked to extremists and jail suspected plotters.

With a flurry of raids, Pakistan took many of those steps this week. Now it's up to India to do what it likes least: share intelligence with its archrival about what it knows and how it knows it.

Keeping the alleged plotters in jail will require unprecedented investigative cooperation across a border mined with distrust and suspicion, and the onus has shifted to India.

Pakistani authorities say they will prosecute in their own courts anyone linked to the three-day siege in Mumbai that left 164 dead — they just need the proof.

"Our own investigations cannot proceed beyond a certain point without provision of credible information and evidence," said Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

But Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee said it was too early to share any of what investigators say is ironclad evidence tying the attacks to Pakistani soil. According to India, the 10 gunmen were from Pakistan, as were the handlers, masterminds, weapons, training camps and financing.

so i guess its too early to share evidence that links pakistan to the attack but not so early to blame pakistan :disagree: kya hoga in logon ka

if its too early for them to share the evidence with us then i guess it is too early for us to clamp down the offices of that charity organisation and hold their officials in our jails. if india does not provide hard evidence any soon then pak gov should let these ppl go untill evidence is recieved and its authenticity is varified

It was not early from day 1 to malign Pakistan but it is early to provide us with the proof !

India can never produce any hard evidence against Pakistan because Hindu fundamentalists are involved in Mumbai attack. If India had any evidence it would not wait to show it to the world. It is quiet clear what kind of game is going on, Indian government and the politicians want to play the role of bush and blair. If a patriotic leader was at the helm of Pakistan he would have talked about it to his people and world with conviction and courage, but unfortunately Pakistan has a salesman at the helm who is more interested in securing Indian and American unlawful interests in Pakistan.

To be fair Bangladesh might elect a similar type of PM who will do what ever New Delhi orders. Then what?

FBI takes DNA samples of Mumbai attackers

The FBI and other western investigating agencies have taken DNA samples of all the nine Lashkar-e-Toiba militants killed in the Mumbai attacks to ascertain if they had any Afghan or other terror links as the probe found that the nature of explosive devices was quite similar to those used in Afghanistan.

Sources associated with the investigation into the November 26 terror strikes said the DNA samples had been preserved by Indian as well as western investigators who were ascertaining whether it matched with anyone in their data bank of terrorists or if they were related to militants killed during operations in Afghanistan.

The western investigators have also carried out a detailed examination of the explosive devices used in the attacks that left over 180 people dead and have found some similarities with those used by terrorists in Afghanistan, the sources said.

Lashkar-e-Toiba has sent some of its cadres to fight along with Taliban in southern Afghanistan. The terror outfit had earlier set up a training camp in Khost area of the war-ravaged country.

The western forensic expertise has come in handy for the Mumbai police and the Indian security agencies in carrying out investigations abroad and unveiling facts that could have otherwise taken much longer.

The FBI team accompanied by investigators from the UK's Scotland Yard were camping in Mumbai for a fortnight looking into clues including the Internet telephony signatures intercepted by the Indian intelligence agencies when terrorists were receiving calls from their Lashkar masters across the border.
