India to reach replacement levels of fertility by 2020

I did not know Bengal's fertility rate was so low. And at the rate Bengalis are emigrating from Bengal, there will soon be drastic demographic changes there.

Yes it is, maybe the learnt something from Bangladesh, Bangladesh has been keeping a low fertillity rate too. Its gradually slowed down here thanks to NGO's etc Infact Bangladesh has made significant strides in HDI (Human Development Index) and has the best among south asian nations.

Bengalis in Bangladesh be talking about the innovations here to Bengalis in West Bengal and so the word spread through 'ADDA' (Something we bengalis love doing)

India's score in HDI is 0.586. Yours is 0.558. You are not only behind us but also Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan.

Could be, I don`t know , last time I checked, it was around 30% officialy ,i think.. why ??

I've got a question, was there a significant Muslim population in Assam before the creation of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh? I mean wasn't East Bengal (Present day Bangladesh) not part of East Bengal and Assam? So it's likely during this era that muslims would have migrated, right?

In retrospect that's why people (Indians) may perceive a rise in islam in assam, because there was already a population and now on top of that former population you're getting an influx of Muslims from BD.

I think many BD's come to India because there is not much development happening in Bangladesh, and that could be part because of India. India 'controls' Bangladesh in sense. for Example, when there where negotiation going through with the chinese about building a deep sea port in Sonadia, India said 'no' and we obliged, India was scared of the 'string of pearls' nonsense. and thus we listened, we have now delayed that project further and are waiting for other to put their bids forward in order to make India happy, that's one reason why our growth is hamppered, however I'm actually quite positive about this modi man, he seems wise and intelligent, he's negotiating the use of the chittagong port for NE states and talking about returning water on the teesta. :D

Good:enjoy:
I was half expecting a barrage of toilet, poverty, rape when I typed that.:secret:

I'm not one to fight or argue, just pose questions and receive answer but if somewhere in between I wrote something false I'll admit it, i'm all about peace love and unity, if we can't unite on common terms than who will. we have to show the way forward.

correct , soon assam will be a muslim majority state, not a problem only if they were locals ....

:PBicycle pump sterilization prog. have worked wonders in Odisha, I see
:P

West Bengal & other NE states are needed to be saved from his Bangladeshi immigration threat hope that the recent land deal with BD helps

...

First of all BD is a sovereign country , India doesn`t control it. Assam didn`t have significant muslim population historically. Few of the local folks had converted hundreds years ago and they are no different from other assamese people except for religion, they follow assamese traditions and culture. Major influx of bengolis (of all religion) happened during british period mostly in the western part. They were brought here to grow rice in low lying areas seasonally flooded by brahmaputra called as char areas. They are still called as char people.
Population of muslim bengoli speaking people have risen considerably since then . Since independence assamese people opposed/resented this and suspected influx from BD for the cause of this. Following assam agitation 1971 was declared as cut off year to declare ones citizenship. so the answer to your question is kind of No and yes technically.
I think migration is not due to lack of development , because nothing much is happening this side of border too . the real reason i believe is difference in population density . BD is very densely populated while NE India is bigger than BD yet have less population . land could be the reason.

So I guess India won't be the most populous country in the world by 2030.

Since we also removed the One Child policy just recently.
We will always be ahead, friend cos we know when and what to do.If i was a grandpa withering many storms surely i would know how to wither the next storm coming, right?
