PTI | Feb 23, 2012, 10.00PM IST
ATTARI: In a goodwill gesture, India today handed over two Pakistani prisoners to authorities at the Wagah land border crossing.
The two Pakistani nationals -- Mohammed Zafar Ullah and Mohammed Shah who were lodged in jails in Delhi and Alwar, crossed over to Pakistan through the land transit route of Attari-Wagah border after 'Emergency Travel Certificate' was issued to them by the Pakistani High Commission, official said.
Mohammed, who had crossed over to Indian territory without possessing valid passport and visa, was released from Delhi jail after nine years.
Another prisoner Syed was released from Alwar Jail of Rajasthan where he was arrested around 14 years back after he was found with expired visa.
Syed had come to India to visit his aunt in Rajasthan, but even after the expiry of his visa he did not return to Pakistan.
