What's new

India ranks third after the US and China as the Top Global Tech Innovation Leader

And how do you figure that? Explain with your methodology and data?

You need to do that yourself, firstly this was a survey and it was based on potential and here you are arguing my methodology, did you read it? Also what parameters on God's green earth do you think India is more innovative than the countries I listed? Please point them out. The official listing which scurrilously goes through patents, industrial designs, contribution to productivity has India no where in the top 20.

Just because it doesn't support to satisfy your ego ???? I mean where is the latest data to refute the study done by KPMG as inaccurate ?? :)

Oh I'm so sorry I hurt your feelings with fact. So India is more innovative than Singapore, the Nordic states and the UK is it? Just don't say that in public! The latest data? I already put it up, it's just in you overlooked it in your full rage "Indians can never be wrong mode"....

I'll run it by you again.

I don't need to do it myself because burden of proof lies with the claimant ie you.

The WIPO ranking uses a different methodology and uses some 81 indicators to assess innovation output of countries while KGMP uses perception among business leaders as the metric. They capture two different aspects. One is a synthetic metric based on a number of indicator another is simply perception among business leaders. They do not need to converge. WIPO report is more academic while KPMG is more business focused. That said, perception among business leader is an equally important aspect irrespective of what any arbitrary indicators suggest.

Also, 'Innovation' is not same for a business-man and an academic like researchers of WIPO report. If I write an app which allows someone to record a short video and attach it to a whatsapp message in one go, it may be innovation for a business-leader who has that problem. It may not be an innovation for an academic.

You are the moderator here in PDF, right ??

Still here you are with an year old study, to refute the latest study done by a reputed company like KPMG.
And you conveniently ignore the fact that the data you are quoting is related to a comprehensive study about Innovations across all sectors (If you have read that) w.r.t the countries. And here you are comparing is with a report that focus only on the tech innovations alone, especially related to IT. :(

"Well I know Mod's can never be wrong". :disagree::disagree::disagree::disagree:

Oh dear....You do know the rankings are reviewed on a yearly basis right? There's a great deal of work to do so on such an academic piece, so hence you will need to wait.
Yes KPMG is reputed, but it's not its reputation I was questioning but rather their methodology which I underlined in my post to you.
Innovation across all sectors? So I take it you read page 27 of the report on India it was placed at 60 on the index I showed you above. It gives a comprehensive breakdown of India's efforts within innovation.
The study worked by polling companies on innovation management trends, and the sub-sectors within those.
As for the WIPO report, you do realise it is the foremost recognised report on innovation? This is what they focussed on in 2017;

http://www.wipo.int/edocs/pubdocs/en/wipo_pub_gii_2017.pdf

Its 81 indicators explore a broad vision of innovation, including political environment, education, infrastructure and business sophistication. This year’s report reviews the state of innovation in agriculture and food systems across sectors and geographies.

So where did you get that it only focuses on tech innovations and IT especially lol!

Here's something from page 52 outlining the variance between the top 10 and the rest in the top 25;

The difference between the top 10 innovation leaders and others in the top 25 Overall, the top 10 perform better than the 11–25 group in all pillars. The gap between these two groups is larger this year in both of the output-side pillars of the index. This contrast shows also that variations in performance are narrower in two of the input-side pillars, Institutions and Market sophistication. In contrast, these gaps have expanded in Human capital and research,

It's focus is in many places.

I don't need to do it myself because burden of proof lies with the claimant ie you.

You need to do it yourself because I already answered your question in my post above i.e. that the WIPO report outlines areas in innovation which the states on the list I put up far exceed those of India.

The WIPO methodology is amongst the most respected around, I know KPMG used perception, but that's exactly the issue here. Perception is very subjective and intangible, so therefore a questionable grounding as to award innovation rankings. WIPO's criteria, let's take one example industrial designs, this leads to tangible outcomes e.g. revenue streams, increased productivity etc.
Perception among business leaders is important but I disagree that it rivals in importance to indicators laid out by WIPO which are clear and leapfrog a nation's innovation status. Perception among business leaders changes widely and varies even day to day.
Innovation today for the most part is termed by both the corporate and academic for what it is i.e. something new. The difference lies in the generation of revenue. Look at major universities and the breakthroughs (headed by academics) they make, that’s innovation and business leaders see it as such as they part fund it, and then bring it to consumers and businesses alike.

Sorry to say, but you seem to have serious comprehension problem, LOL . Actually it's the other-way around. WIPO report is comprehensive across all sectors, while KPMG is focusing only on Tech Innovation. That's what I said earlier. Both reports can't even be compared, that includes the methodology used as well.

Which proves my point earlier on about India being the "third most innovative country", so why on earth are you trying to debate me?
You wrote this earlier on remember?

"I mean where is the latest data to refute the study done by KPMG as inaccurate"

I showed you the data, not to refute, but to say the report was way off, or the article was at least. You bought in ego and other assorted nonsense. Now you're taking about comprehension (I did misread that part of your post though) after you saw the data posted.

Hate aside , India has one of the most startup companies in the world

Waz bro, the KPMG one goes more by the total innovation force (so big population will obv help). Most other studies analyse by per capita. Therein lies the major difference.

No need to over analyse which studies are better and worse when they are talking about different manifestation (country raw level versus per person) of the innovation forces etc.

Of course per capita effective innovation matters much more in the end since that simply gets scaled by the population in regards to development, wealth and the social good etc. But total raw innovation also matters a lot (esp given there is multiplier effect in play sometimes past the per capita innovation forces) and it is really the first thing a large developing country like India which has been lagging so long should improve, and I am happy its finally getting somewhere in this larger scale ranking but I think there is much room to still go of course.

If India consists only of Hindi states, that country would rank 180th in the word technology innovation.

.
And how do you figure that? Explain with your methodology and data?
WIPO, Nature magazine, Science Paper, PTC, WB and many others international professional bodies indicate no similarities to this [Indian feeling good] "report"````apart from this "report" others all indicate that India is a factor driven primitive economy, has no place, no weight on world's cutting edge techs and innovation```period

.
India and Innovation is oxymoron  , doesn't matter if it's overall innovation or only focusing on Tech. It's just simply impossible for India to rank third. Don't hold any value on the KPMG report, it's worthless.
