Although India already does not have any money to finance new jets to replace it's falling from the sky air force, but under Modi it is going to go totally bankrupt trying to buy something from everyone thinking that will keep them from selling anything to Pakistan. AEW if deployed near the border could monitor the enemy air space deep inside. The long range SAM's threat would force it to be deployed more inside inner space thus depriving of the information which could be critical.

MAR-1 or the HARM is attracted to the radiation feed from the Radar, but during the war time, the radars are on war time position i.e they only radiate the waves for small time and then read/listening the returning signal. The lotiering type UAV like Harpy is more effective for such thing.
