I guess you have a problem with comprehension. your posts suggest that you yourself dont know anything about Christianity. and you are scared to stand up to your own faith. you believe in pope, you believe in miracles and you know that it is stupid and hence afraid to confess it. But you still believe. Don't worry, 90% of all believers, of all religions, are same as you. believing just for the sake of it. without themselves trying to delve into the realm of theology. without having the courage to question.

If you want a newer publication in beginner level, read Upinder Singh. She is neutral in her academics, but only because she is skirts every controversial issue.

A.L. Bhasham's wonder of India is good, though dated. Foreign authors are less influenced by ideology, than Indian authors who since 1970s are exclusively writing propaganda, Even textbook on Indian history taught in erstwhile USSR is pretty balanced and actually criticize Indian Marxists for faulty interpretations.

Other good books are:

History of India by John Keyes, and A history of India by Hermann Kulke and Dietmar Rothermund. They gives a general overview and could be read because reading Indian history of any Indian historian after 1970's is poisonous. Even neutral ones like Upinder Singh are neutral because they do not even talk about controversial issues.

An Advanced history of India by RC Majumdar and HC raychaudhari - both being the two of the most eminent Indian historians. The work is old but still interesting to read

Ancient India by RC Majumdar is also excellent work.

See, If you could afford and find- 11 volume series of "History and culture of people of India" edited by Majumdar is best, even dated. The 11 volumes are:

Volume 1: The Vedic Age [Prehistory to 600 B.C.]
Volume 2: The Age of Imperial Unity [600 B.C. to 320 A.D.]
Volume 3: The Classical Age [320-750 A.D.]

Read any contemporary Indian historian only if you want to get indoctrinated into Marxism.

You could also follow twitter handles of TrueIndology and @Vajrayudh11 .Some forums like Historum also have good threads like this but majority of good Indian posters have left that forum.

1. Because only christian organisations claim that they are serving humanity. And they get maximum positive media coverage.

2. Hype, yes. And I criticize Hinduism too. A lot in fact. Here too, I said in one of my post - all temple priests are con men. I am not a hypocrite, you are. you never criticized anything related to your own religion.

It is a known fact that a whole lot of Indian Christians ,either due to ignorance, or willingness are stooge of parent country of their church. When I compare them with rennaisance Christians of Europe who never betrayed their country to Church (Their own church) ,exemplified in a purely catholic army remaining loyal to Giuseppe Garibaldi even when pope himself put a bounty on his head, I commented that Indian Christians are of inferior stock than European as they have less honour in general.

Actually on this point @VivasvatManu actually commented that "weakness of character/selling country for money" is not Christian but Indian characteristic, to which I agree. Indians ,in general, have shown a tendency of betraying the country for money and some praise from their colonial masters (because of their inferiority complex). I seem to have overlooked it as I was in a combative mood on this thread.

Whether you are among the traitors or patriots is only known to you, and would be known to others only when you act in one direction or other.

I don't see any relevance why patanajali is being brought up into this discussoin. They are trying to sell products made from Indian Raw Materials and procured from farmers and tribal. They are encouraging farmers to gain more value for their products by adding value and purchasing directly from them. About profit, they are claiming that it will be used to build nation by contributing schools, hospitals etc. Its certainly isn't a non profit company cuz enterprise of this scale cannot work for long if they don’t make profit. But it seems their cause is noble

Whether you criticize your religion or follow it blindly is none of my concern. But you diverted the discussion first by bringing temple priests, god men into it. And I may look like an anti-christian to you, but I am not. My parents loathe me for being an unworthy hindu too.

Well I stand by that statment regarding pope. I refuse to accept anyone who says I am closer to god than you and god gives his sermons through me. And this refusal of mine is same for all god men, all ulemas issuing fatwas as well.
