Hello friends, i strongly believe that India already has operational tactical nukes

the reason is following information

Five nuclear devices were detonated during Operation Shakti.[6] They were:[5]

Shakti I - A thermonuclear device yielding 45 kt, but designed for up to 200 kt.
Shakti II - A plutonium implosion design yielding 15 kt and intended as a warhead that could be delivered by bomber or missile. It was an improvement of the device detonated in the 1974 Smiling Buddha (Pokhran-I) test of 1974, developed using simulations on the PARAM supercomputer.
Shakti III - An experimental boosted fission design that used "non-weapon grade"[7] plutonium, but which likely omitted the material required for fusion, yielding 0.3 kt.
Shakti IV- A 0.5 kt experimental device.
Shakti V - A 0.2 kt experimental device that used uranium-233.

the bolded and colored part is very important

it shows that in Pokharan II, India successfully tested sub kiloton nukes.

so there is possibility that India now has operational Tactical Nukes and Prahar is designed to carry them

Note> the OP is based on my analysis

yes india has them- and it will be great stratregic advantage for india- tactical nuking their own land bla bla-
and when it comes to Pakistan- indians say- what a strategic blunder- practically no use- nuking own territory- bla bla-

Go to sleep-

^^ tactical nukes are very useful if you want to destroy incoming enemy formations with nuke and also want the radiation fallout to be limited

tactical nukes can also arm cruise missiles like nirbhay, if a nation is equipped with BMD then such warheads can be used but the US and Russia have stopped using nukes on cruise missiles because BMs with MIRVs are better deterants when it comes to BMD .......... big or small a nuke is a nuke and it will trigger immediate retaliation.......

It is very possible-India is incredibly secretive about so many things related to defence. But as this si the case there is no point speculating of starting entire threads based on guesswork.

No need to :taz: .

If a very low-yield is obtained during a test, it is also possible that it was a fizzle.
A tactical nuke must also have very low weight (<100 kg, just an estimate). Check out the weight of those devices, I don't remember exactly, but I think it was around 1000 kgs.

India's tactical nukes would be basically nothing but another term for miniaturized warheads for
cruise missiles etc. India does not have its war startegy (even Cold Start) completely revolving around
tactical sub-kiloton nukes, unlike Pakistan which rides on them and nothing else.

Is Cold Start even an operational thing, i.e. can we act as quickly as cold start demands? Have we done any exercises to test that?

There is another thread on Pakistani tactical nukes. You have trashed Pakistan for having these things and now, when this gentleman says that he thinks India had developed these, the beauty of a tactical nuclear weapon becomes apparent to all Indians.

Start rubbing Fair and Lovely on these tactical bumbs, and these will become Kosherly White.

Most likely No!

I think Cold Start is now known by another name.

Can anybody educate us on this new name.

These sub-kiloton warheads of India are better called "miniaturized nukes" rather than "tactical nukes".

Simply because eventhough they are mounted on tactical assets like Nirbhay, there are likely to be
used against static and strategic targets where a high-profile ballistic missile might be unfeasible.

Pakistan's tactical nukes are a different breed, they're for attacking invading enemy ground forces
(and in the meantime blasting their own motherland),,,such assets are required for countries who have
an opponent with an Army fit to invade and occupy you. PA doesn't have that kind of strength, that's why
India does not use tactical nukes in the type of roles Pakistan does.
