What's new

India left "disappointed" as US goes ahead with F-16 sale to Pakistan.

is the cost on the higher side or not ??? just curious,.. don't have an idea about the jet's price ...

quite a good option to avail as other western options are more costly ....

.
If you think about it. The $200ish being given will offset the $700 million Pakistan is paying for the aircraft. It's all accounting, of course.
they are geting 860 million from the usa. they basicly got free f16's theres no sugar coating it. and they have some change left over.

. .
It's a possible to raise a new sqdn of blk 52 if 26 bllk 52 plus some mlu are distributed among them as 11 and 9 has over 40 among them

. .
So what's the delivery date then?
Non-MDE items included in this request are eight (8) AN/APG-68(V)9 radars, and eight (8) ALQ-211(V)9 Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suites (AIDEWS). Additionally, this possible sale includes spare and repair parts, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support. The estimated cost of MDE is $564.68 million. The total estimated cost is $699.04 million.

Also there is no purchase of ammunition for these jets.
It would have been better if there were Aim 9x and/or Aim 120D coming along with these.

I doubt the U.S will ever sell Pakistan Aim-9X or Aim-120D

better off going for A-Darter and R-Darter from Denel.

Why?
If Pakistan is really the major non-NATO ally then why not?

because of China might get it's hand on one of them :undecided: and it could change the balance of power between Pakistan and India.

Yaay 8 f16 - will make a lot of difference - yaay - :suicide:

Your definition of balance of power is quite ridiculous -

From an article that was posted on original post:

"The agency said the F-16s would allow Pakistan's Air Force to operate in all-weather environments and at night, while improving its self-defense capability and bolstering its ability to conduct counter-insurgency and counter terrorism operations."

What does AIM 9x and/or Aim 120D have to do with counter-insurgency and counter terrorism? Those weapons are India specific. Besides, Pakistan can use its existing stock of US-made air-to-air missiles. It's not like they are using a lot of them, at the moment.

You should know by now that being a "non-NATO ally" doesn't mean anything these days.

Congrtulations to US, they have successfully imposed their interests on Pakistan for next 2 decades. :hitwall:
:suicide::suicide2:

what interests?? the U.S is the one paying for these with AID money.

Pakistan is inching closer and closer to China.

Pakistan only needs to do is sign a monster contract with China for some J-10Bs and J-31s

question is will China take over in giving military aid or will Pakistan pay out of it's own pocket and not have to worry about U.S interests
