The Indian government has launched another hydropower project on the River Chenab in the occupied Kashmir valley.

The project is yet another violation of the Indus Water Treaty, which awarded three western rivers Indus, Jhelum, and Chenab to Pakistan and eastern rivers Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej to India.

The 540 megawatts Kwar power project would be constructed in the district of Kishtwar. Indian government’s Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved over INRs45 billion for the project on April 27.

Reacting to the Indian decision, Pakistan’s Indus Water Commission this week said that the approval for the cabinet committee was a violation of the Indus Water Treaty which required India to inform Pakistan six months in advance before launching any project on the three western rivers.

The commission said that Pakistan would seek all the details about Kwar Hydro Power Project from New Delhi. It voiced concern about the Indian plans.

India has already constructed several hydropower projects on Pakistan rivers in the Indian-occupied Kashmir claiming that these were the ‘run-of-the-river’ projects allowed under the Indus Waters Treaty.

The Indus Waters Treaty was brokered by the World Bank between Pakistan and India in 1960. After the treaty, India over-exploited the three eastern rivers turning them into dry sand strips, which receive water only when there are floods in India.

Who cares about treaties and whether Pakistan runs dry. Who is going to safeguard Pakistan's interests?
I wanted to say something about Politicians too busy figuring out where to squeeze extra loot from the country to really pay attention who is busy abusing the country but then without commenting about what toll the army hierarchy extracts (not in defense costs), it is a moot point.

Attach bomb vests to your bodies, rush to borders, kill the gangus where you find em or nuke them - since they're already trying to starve us to death

what's the point if they keep taking our water from us and slowly trying to end us? better have a fight man to man than suffer

What is the need to attach a bomb vest ? don't you guys have an army , navy and air force ?

cause we ain't pussies- every 220 million soul fights
In the 80s even women were taught how to fight and shoot rifles while men already knew- we will protect our freedom, way of life, water resources or die trying

.
Again, if all of you know how to shoot, why use a bomb vest ?

If every soul has to fight, then why are you paying 12 Billion $ to your Army every year ?
And this is exactly the reason why you can never be us or understand us

Cause You're built different, no would even think about asking such stupid questions
if someone steals from me I don't go look for my guards, I go and beat the f outta him myself and than look for the guard to clean up the mess- millitary spending is the deterance actual doing should/will/is always be the people

And if you think stealing water is alright than knowing pakistani mentality they would rather go the bomb jackets, rifles or even last option of nuke route
Than let it be, we have a different mindset that you keep on pushing to get a reaction

Better to just sue India if you believe that there is a treaty violation. Easy for all parties

This is confusing.

If Military spending is the deterrence then why is it not working ?

It does not look like it has deterred India from building that dam.

How will you use the nuke option once you have put on the bomb vest ? won't you just blow up and then there will be no one to use the nuke option.

OTOH nuke is the last option. But since you won't even ask your army to help, how on earth can you use the nuke option ? I think the army has control of the nukes.

. . .
Before Mushy's emasculation of the whole nation and turning them into a bunch of western and indian subservient cucks, Pakistan's stated policy was to blast any dams that India were to build on it's territory which blocked or reduced Pakistan's share of water.

Now our military establishment has signed onto Darnomics, borrow heavily from Uncle Sam controlled or influenced sources and keeping import goods for consumption even water...

.
Misleading article. India has right under the treaty to build run of the river projects. It has also compensated Pakistan financially for any loss of water - over 60 million pound sterling at that point of time.
