India & Israel Cherish Their Warm Relationship

Indian Foreign Minister SM Krishna has described Israel as an "important partner" of his country. Mr Krishna ends a two-day visit to Israel on Tuesday. He said the two countries enjoyed warm relations.

Mr Krishna ends a two-day visit to Israel on Tuesday. He said the two countries enjoyed warm relations.

He said they were working together on counter-terrorism, defence, agriculture and the water and energy sectors.

The visit is the first by an Indian foreign minister in more than a decade. The two countries celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations this year.

"There are several sectors in which India and Israel will be working together and are working together which are critical for both our economies," Indian Ambassador to Israel Navtej Sarna told the Press Trust of India.

Correspondents say that ties between the two countries have grown substantially - from $200m (£130m) in 1992 to about $5bn (£3.2bn) last year.

In addition, bilateral defence trade is worth about $9bn (£5.8bn) and is growing at a fast pace.

Tel Aviv has emerged as the second biggest defence supplier to Delhi after Moscow.

Israeli President Shimon Peres reflected the warmth of their relationship when greeting Mr Krishna on Monday.

Good going India and Israel.
While the Defence tie-ups are the ones that seem to attract the max. eyeballs, it is relatively of much more recent origin. In fact agriculture/floriculture (and associated tech.) was the area where the first trade took place and about 30-35 years ago. Nearly every drip-irrigation manufacturer in India (for example) has been standing with Israeli tech/collaboration. Another industry that has seen huge Indo-Israeli co-operation is electronics and applications, apart from software.

So the trend will be even more upwards in direction. With great benefits for both countries.

Actually wat is real problem among Pakistan and Bangladesh I don't knw. If India shows friendly gestures towards Pakistan or BD you people used to saying that India/Indians would never be a friends , backstabbers ,want to destabilize their economy ,bunch of wild dogs . Ok that's ur opinion fine ,but y u people so much frustrated with Indo-Israel ,India-US, Indo-French , India -Vietnam ,India-Australia relations.

Who cares what Bangladeshis or Pakistanis think? They are nobodies in international geopolitics. Iran will keep on selling its crude to India and Israel their military technologies. All anyone can do is whine.

How many times we have say that Kashmir is part of INDIA ,Pakistan is illegally occupied the some part of Kashmir. Hw can u say that we occupied illegally?. we having accession paper of Kashmir which is given by Raja Hari singh ,do u have any such agreement if u have show it here. Some people arguing that Kashmiri muslims want to join with Pakistan in 1940's .In general princely state wat people thinks is not matters , the king sole authoritative to take decisions.

If that's the case Khan of Kalat(part of Baluchistan ) want join with Hindu India 1947 we rejected immediately he joined with Pakistan , did he asked their people opinion.

We made great mistake in BD case , we failed to made BD as landlocked country now we paying the price(string of pearls).
