Our elders are not that worried bcs Indian Roads alone kill 130,000 Indians per year in road accidents with my state alone losing around 4000 people in 2010.

rise in population only is not as big problem as the quality of population that is increasing
that is dangerous that poor people are increasing... people living below poverty line have much higher birth rates
and as a result the crime rate s also increasing.

here in Pakistan i have observed that the growth rate is more in villages and in rural areas... specially in upper Pakistan

As ChineseTiger pointed it out I think it's the actual density. More like this one where India and China is around the same considering 40-50% of China is sparsely populated.

Listen, population is an excess phenomenon in the emerging and underdeveloped world. We have highest fertility rates in Asia and Africa while Russia and Japan are dying daily. It is imperative that as human beings we must discourage polygamy. We must make awareness programs of the consequences of too many people. We must demand our governments for stronger population control.

Whether religious or not, Polygamy is one of the many reasons behind over population. This is not just for Muslim or any specific community but anyone who's involved. Like that dude from Mizoram. I'd have him shot if I were authority for creating so much problem for national economy.

It is upto us to collectively inform people about the woes of over-population.
