Amid reports that China and Pakistan are jointly opposing India's bid for the Nuclear Suppliers Group membership, the US today said India meets missile technology control regime requirements and is ready for entry into the exclusive club.

"I'd point you back to what the president said during his visit to India in 2015, where he reaffirmed that the US view was that India meets missile technology control regime requirements and is ready for NSG membership," State Department Spokesman John Kirby told reporters at his daily news conference.

His remarks came in response to a question on reports that China and Pakistan have joined hands to oppose India becoming a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).

"I'm going to refer you to the governments of China and Pakistan with respect to their positions on India's membership," Kirby said.

"Deliberations about the prospects of new members joining the Nuclear Suppliers Group are an internal matter among current members," he said.

Defending its move to block India's entry into the NSG, China today claimed that several members of the 48-nation bloc shared its view that signing of the NPT was an "important" standard for the NSG's expansion.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in Beijing that not only China but also a lot of other NSG members are of the view that Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) is the cornerstone for safeguarding the international nuclear non-proliferation regime.

Asked about reports that China is pushing Pakistan's entry into NSG linking it to India's admission into the bloc, Lu said the NSG is an important part of NPT, which has been the consensus of the international community for long.

Although India is not part of the NSG, Indian side recognises this consensus, he claimed.

India, Pakistan, Israel and South Sudan were the four UN member states which have not signed the NPT, the international pact aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons.

Last month, Pakistan Prime Minister's Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had said China has helped Pakistan to stall India's bid to get NSG membership.

When China has actively started opposing India at every International forums that's a very good sign

It really means that India is on the right track and China is worried :D

But you say Pakistan is a failed state but still oppose it at every forum, then according to your logic dosen't that mean Pakistan is also at right track
As seen from crying of 1.2 billion indians for 8 f16s

.
I wonder why they even bother about "Pakistan"??Pakistan has no say in neither forum as they're not part of it.They can stir as much coffee in the "Coffee Club",but nothing is going to come out of it.

As far as I remember India has never opposed Pakistan openly at any International Forum.

But I really believe that Mr. Doval may have a hand in sabotaging F16 deal behind the closed door meetings
8-) it means that Pakistan was on the right track and India was worried :p:

As long as both India and Pakistan are nuclear, China in it own right to reject India from join in NSG membership without issue membership to Pakistan as the same time.

China is doing what it thinks is bets for their country.

Unfortunately for China, there is a huge trade deficit vis a vis India
and
Due to this constant opposition to India's interests, Indians are slowly going more and more anti-China.
There is huge under current of boycotting Chinese goods. Soon, this will turn into a people's movement which is bound to impact the import of Chines goods into India.

Yes, we are worried. So partition of India is the our only option. A preemptive nuclear strike on Delhi is also worth considering.

You guys are most welcome to do so.
But Please nuke during Budget session when most of the MPs present inside Parliament.

If China nukes India then Chinese will be at the receiver end please don't forget you guys have only enemies around you they are just waiting for an opportunity. So, China will speak with India and do proxy war using Pakistan.

and regarding blocking NSG membership its just a matter of time China will support India's entry.

what ever man...
Imagine if Indians start boycotting Chinese goods. With such huge trade deficit, the impact would be huge on China.

At a personal level, I have plunged myself into the boycott China goods movement.
Slowly and surely, we will make sure this will be a success ;)
