  • On 3 January, Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Maj Gen Qaseem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike by the US troops in Baghdad

NEW DELHI : Ahead of US President Donald Trump's visit, a top government source on Friday said that India is "deeply interested" in acquiring the drone technology used by the Americans to kill Iranian military leader Qaseem Soleimani last month.

"We would be deeply interested in acquiring the technology used by the Americans to kill the Iranian military commander as the drone quietly sneaked in and launched its missile accurately to kill him," he said.

On January 3, Iranian Revolutionary Guards Commander Maj Gen Qaseem Soleimani was killed in a drone strike by the US troops in Baghdad.

Sources said the technology can help in targeting th e Indian fugitives hiding in countries such as Pakistan or other countries if there is any need for such an operation.

Several perpetrators of heinous terrorist attacks in India like the 26/11 in Mumbai and February 14 Pulwama attacks are hiding in Pakistan and are termed as "non-state" actors by Islamabad.

Both Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar and Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed have been roaming openly in Pakistan continuing their activities against India at the behest of the Pakistan Army there.

Sources said India has expressed interest in the technology and the issue may come up for discussion during the US President's visit. Trump is slated to pay a two-day visit to India on February 24-25.

During the operation to kill Osama Bin Laden in 2009, the American Navy Special Forces had used a special stealth chopper to land and attack their target hiding next to the Pakistan Military Academy near Islamabad.

Sources said India may also move ahead with the Predator drones deal with the US during the visit but the drones being acquired may not be as effective as the ones used in the Iranian strike in carrying out selective target attack as they can be shot down by fighter aircraft.

.
US drone was able to take out Solemani inside Iraq with zero air cover and not in Iran. Indians live in a parallel dimension where they believe a slow moving drone could sneak in and take out someone inside Pakistan without being detected first and shot down.

.
You fking kidding me.....
"Technology can help in targeting the Indian fugitives hiding in countries such as Pakistan or other countries if there is any need for such an operation".
Drones armed with next gen vedic tech and covered with stealthy layers of cow piss and dung will work. And don't send them in cloudy season.

If India wanted a close look at some us drones you should`ve just asked iran,at this point they`ve probably got damn near a complete collection of us drones, hell just last week they were showing off all of the components and airframe parts that they`d recovered from the shot down global hawk.

By the way hows the Rustom II going?

Nice, they're going to sign a lot of big league defence/military deals, throw a few reapers in there too ! :smokin:

.
India will probably get it as they have money and US won't have problems using it

Pakistan must upgrade its Air defence now. We need long range Radars capable of detecting and tracking small RCS weapons inside India's airspace. We need Long Range SAM System

O yaar, mai kh-ta hoon sab lay lo.

F-35, Reapers, Predators, S-500 (when it comes)...

It still won't change anything. India will still talk about terrorism coming across LoC. And if any of those fancy toys come across into our Airspace, well then...

India has already placed orders for 20 reapers a few years ago. What is ‘new’ about this interest?

The best offer Americans can make is their support during FATF. That would be a big deal if this happened at all.

The Americans aren't even going to give a handshake to Pakistan. Let alone defence equipment. Absolutely out of the question.

US only knows to milk countries and nothing else. There are no friendships just interests.
