Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, on Tuesday said although he did not support nuclear weapons but certain nations could keep them for the safety for all.
Dalai Lama was in Ghaziabad as the chief guest in a school function.
When asked about the civil nuclear cooperation between India and the United States, which has been revived by U.S. President Barack Obama during his recent visit to the country, the Dalai Lama said that he considered India as a huge and populous nation and hence it had a right to keep nuclear weaponry.
"I am totally against nuclear weapons. However, on this planet [if] some bigger nations have certain rights to keep nuclear weapons, then India [is] also one important nation," he said.
Meanwhile, Dalai Lama added that India was a great country because of its cultural diversity and the young generation was the future and hope of the nation.
During his speech, Dalai Lama urged the students to spread the message of peace and prosperity through their actions.
In a glow of bonhomie, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Obama had earlier this week unveiled plans to unlock billions of dollars in nuclear trade and to deepen defence ties to establish an enduring strategic partnership. (ANI)

Opposition, but also agree, old lama really is a contradictory "affability good leader"
Why are so hypocritical, agree or not agree, it is political stance problem,

As expected. Lot more BS is comming.

.
Why is this monk/joker always making stupid/clueless political remarks?
All genuine religious leaders should keep away from politics. Politics should NEVER be mixed with religion, else it becomes a deadly combination. Look no further than the middle east for prove. Since leaders use religious for their personal political benefits.

This monk is even more of a bigger joke than I thought. Lool

What? Sounds yet another "fake Buddhist" thing to say, basically trying to curry favour with the Indian establishment.

Clearly the Dalai Lama is ignoring basic teachings in Buddhism

Time for him to go and look up "Right Livelihood."

Playing to the gallery is not something the Dalai Lama should be doing.

Dalai Lama should not make such statements. He is supposed to have more moral stature than we imbeciles who can't settle a dispute without turning to violence. Strange- he never makes such remarks, wonder why he slipped this time.

It seems that copying is a national trait. Even Chinese cannot get rid of that in simple posting on thread.
Lol, rellly ?to see clearly, I said is SB, u SB, not BS,I want to teach you a new English word, SB/shability;
In addition China have the words, called: 以其人之道,还治其人之身 give sb some of his own medicine.

Lol he could have just avoided or say he is not qualify to make remarks about such delicate matters, instead of making an even bigger joke of himself. Lool not like he isn't already. Once a revered religious leader start getting into politics, he losses any little credibility he once had, doesn't matter whether he is Muslim, Buddhist, Hindus , Christian or whatever, don't give a shit, stick with your religion and avoid dirty politics by all means, well that's if he is a GENUINE religious leader. He has made similar political remarks in the past, which he shouldn't have. You can have your own personal opinion as a 'holy' religious , but don't start publicising them, . if you want to do so, then just be a politician and join politics altogether. :enjoy:
