India hands letter to Pakistan High Commissioner

What a waste of time by Indians.
This terrorist must get advocate from India.
Another thing, letter is not evidence. But in case accuse accepts his crime in court then case is almost over, if India gives solid proof along with.

.
let me ask u something
when have terrorists ever written letters or did legal work to resolve something?
NEVER
that is why they are terrorists!!!!!
this is the stupidest piece of krap i have ever heard of

I can just imagine the Spanish making the ETA guy write a letter to the UN acknowledging his deeds, and nationality

I wonder what it says.

"My Lords, ladies and gentlemen,

I, Ajmal Kasab, I mean Iman, admit I am a Pakistani *wink wink*, was trained by ISI who trained me into an overweight lardy-arsed killing machine. Noone should doubt my words. I write this wearing no Kalava, and I cannot speak Hindi.

Namaste, oops, I mean Salaam

India yet to provide evidence: Foreign Office

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Monday reiterated that the Indian government had provided no evidence of the involvement of elements from Pakistan in the Mumbai attacks.

Earlier, an Indian envoy said Islamabad had sufficient evidence against Pakistan based groups of involvement in the terror attacks.

‘The Government of Pakistan has so far not received any information or evidence relating to the Mumbai incident from the Government of India,’ Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq said.

Earlier Acting Indian High Commissioner, Manpreet Vohra, told journalists that ‘There is a lot of evidence with the Pakistani government and other countries on not just the Mumbai incident. Everyone knows and has evidence about the activities of terrorist groups in Pakistan.’

Pakistan and India have been locked in the debate for weeks now with India firm on its stance that Pakistan knows it all, while Pakistan insisting no information had been provided to it.

Vohra remarked that Pakistan had many international obligations under the UN Security Council resolution.

He rejected the impression that war between the two neighbours was imminent. India is committed to resolve all disputes with Pakistan and still wishes to continue talks for regional peace, he said.

 Sort of parallels the debate on this thread.

India has provided evidence, Pakistani leaders have made mockery of themselves in media in recent past and in history they are very well known for flip-flop on statements. Pakistan wants to put Mumbai attacks under the carpet then their will be no end to terrorist activities in India supported from Pakistani soil.
But unfortunately India is no US to carryout attacks on its own to teach a lesson but any such repeat of attacks with clear evidence will attract swift retaliation for sure.

.
Wait a min, wait a min... Ajmal Kasab is now calling himself Iman?

Bwahahahahaha anoooooooother name change.

The sooner we realize we're dealing with retards on the other side of this investigation the sooner things would start making sense of why they behave the way they do.

That is absolutly correct Goodperson. India is merely wasting time, and must find other avenues (softening or talking to the military elites only). It is very clear, since the Pakistan govt does not run the country. What would be the point in proving to them. And anyways even if they did, what will be the likely hood that they will carry out any demands made by India.

There is no question of waiting for a repeat now.

The incidents of 26/11 have to be paid back to the terrorists and their supporters. Failure to do so would mean inviting more attacks all over.

This was an attack on India. Why is the military there if it can't prevent or avenge such attacks!

Pakistan has shown itself incapable and unwilling to change itself and shun terror with reason alone. The only option is strong diplomatic pressure if that works coupled with the logical next steps if that is the only option left.

No there is another options vinod, By keeping strong military and diplomatic force, and potential treat level. In theory it could possibly drain Pakistan economically, given the time frame. And by Pakistan establishment not accepting any form of jesture given by India, this strategy does have it potential.

This sort of response is not unexpected.

Pak refused to accept its dead from Kargil too..

Pakistan Dawn News quoted Pakistan foreign ministry sources saying that the 'letter itself is not ample proof', as urged by the ministry of external affairs.

Pakistan remained defiant even after arrested terrorist's repeated confessions to the Mumbai police and investigations by both - international and Pakistan's domestic media that have proved Kasab's identity.

Dawn News television quoted Pak foreign office sources saying, "The Indian government needs to provide ample proof to establish Kasab's identity."

Pakistan's response comes after India summoned Pakistan's acting high commissioner and handed over a letter written by Mumbai terror attack accused Ajmal Amir Iman 'Kasab' to Pakistan government.

Kasab, was captured on November 26 soon after the group of 10 heavily-armed terrorists launched attacks in Mumbai.

In his letter addressed to the Pakistan High Commission, Kasab has stated that he and the other terrorists killed in the attack were from Pakistan.

Kasab has also sought a meeting with the Pakistan high commission. This is the first time India is officially handing over proof of Kasab's nationality to Pakistan.

Earlier, Amir Kasab, the father of Ajmal, has also acknowledged to a Pakistani newspaper that the gunman whose pictures were beamed around the world by the media was his son and that they were Pakistani.

Dawn News columnist Ayaz Amir said, "Kasab had given a statement to Indian authorities, which was presented to the Pakistan's high commissioner to India. This, under any penal code, anywhere in the world, does not amount to admissible proof."

Islamabad has been denying that Kasab is a Pakistani national, even though his father has confirmed it. Pakistani media also went to his village and confirmed his nationality through a sting operation, after which authorities ordered a clampdown to keep journalists away.

. .
It is not really any evidence but if Pakistan accepts him to be its Citizen based on the contents of the letter (and its internal enquiry) it will be the first step of accepting that Pakistani soil and elements has been used for the terror attack.

Dude knowing the SOP of Indian Police (and for that matter Pakistani Police) even a donkey would "confess" to anything and everything and in any direction the police points.

A letter is even more weak "evidence", anyone can write anything and say that Mr. So-and-so wrote this...

Lets look past this and talk sense... :coffee:

.
No media channels are being allowed to interview him. Its a sensitive matter and in any case we don't want this guy to get any publicity.

Why is it a "sensitive matter"... whats so sensitive about someone talking from a lockup over a CCTV... I don't see all this hulla-baloo over nothing... if he is what he is and who he is then let him be questioned by all the "stake-holders" in the game... unless ofcourse Hindia has some alterior motives and Pakistanis would think just that until the inquiry is clear and transparent for all...

.
And on what basis or evidence they have acted upon these guys.

No dear, they acted on it just to comply with the UN vote and the fun part is that if no evidence is put forth and this lingers on these guys might very well be let go... thats the civilized way... no evidence = no incarciration... atleast in a logical world and that in itself is a debatable topic... :)

.
Yes, its all damning evidence provided the prosecuting party is sincere about it.

Pakistan could say that the phone calls are fake - what then? Who's to judge?

Actually an unbiased judge can, will and should question that too. I mean why would you expect the judge to just see and hear the "Mollywood edition" of "facts" and sign a guilty verdict on that finding...

.
This was an attack on India. Why is the military there if it can't prevent or avenge such attacks!

About 10 hours and a transporter flight away... oops thats the "elite forces" response time... regulars are on their way, on their hands and knees... eventually to get their, eventually...
