GST revenue hits all-time high of Rs 1.41 lakh crore in April

NEW DELHI:

GST collections in April touched a record high of over Rs 1.41 lakh crore, indicating sustained economic recovery, the finance ministry
said on Saturday.

The revenues for the month of April 2021 are 14 per cent higher than Rs 1.23 lakh crore collected in March.

"GST revenues have not only crossed the Rs 1 lakh crore mark successively for the last seven months but have also shown a steady increase. These are clear indicators of sustained economic recovery during this period. Closer monitoring against fake-billing, deep data analytics using data from multiple sources including GST, income-tax and customs IT systems and effective tax administration have also contributed to the steady increase in tax revenue," the ministry said.

The gross GST revenue collected in the month of April 2021 is at a record high of Rs 1,41,384 crore, of which CGST is Rs 27,837 crore, SGST Rs 35,621 crore, IGST Rs 68,481 crore (including Rs 29,599 crore collected on import of goods) and cess Rs 9,445 crore (including Rs 981 crore collected on import of goods).

"Despite the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic affecting several parts of the country, Indian businesses have once again shown remarkable resilience by not only complying with the return filing requirements but also paying their GST dues in a timely manner during the month," the ministry added.

India is projected to grow at 12% This year. I can see GST collection touching 2 lakh crore per month.

Is this some kind of joke?

Should we not question how Delhi actually spent its money over the last few months instead of back slapping ourselves over GST collection records? Is the OP having a laugh?

This is precisely why we applaud the mughals, Tipu and the Colonial British for raiding temple hoards years ago. If left to their own devices, Hindus seem to celebrate the hoarding of wealth even while it is starkly obvious that hospitals and oxygen concentration plants should have been built with that money.

Delhi is choked with the ashes of funeral pyres yet some are pleasured by the sound of coffers being lined.
Lol. Apply Burnol dude.
No seriously though, why are you such an idiot?

Well, I can see why Pakistan is a economic and health super power of the world through this comment. Lol. Obviously Mughal legacy live on as an example in Pakistan. We can never hope to reach the absolute pharma and medical mecca that is Pakistan.

I suggest you to look at your own country for pete sake.

Even if Pakistan is hardly one hundredth the economic power India is, if we spend that money on preparing the people for a looming disaster, I would be pleased.

Have you asked Modi why pyres are ablaze in public parks while he seemed to have access to some instant cash money available to at least try and counteract the looming threats? Why have the same eventualities of migrant workers scrambling back to villages panned out, only this time with even worse outcomes than last year as they have even less access to oxygen when they finally succumb to the virus?

There's only so much of this comparing yourselves to Pakistan for mental relief that you should be willing to tolerate before you actually start asking your own leaders some hard questions.

Ha cute. We got momins worrying about India. Let Indians worry about our state of affairs. Like I said, we can't all be the health meccas like Pakistan. Modi or anyone else would stay in power as long as they deliver with the governance. But in this case we also are not stupid to put all the blame on the government for our lackadaisical attitude towards our own health.

This second wave has been unexpected and more aggressive. However in the course of next 5 months we'll have vaccinated more than 60% of population and firmly put this disaster behind our backs.

What is important today is not letting virus affect our economic standing. Simple measures like face masks reduce the spread by 90%. This is not something like a plague. Death rate is quite low. 200000 deaths on the account of covid in a population of 1.4 billion is not apocalypse. Overhyping the wave seems to be the order of the day. PDF is having a field day.

Thank you for your concern, we'll emerge strong. Mughal legacy be damned. Good luck with it in Pakistan, you would need it when begging to restructure CPEC loans with China. Take care.

Lol at Indians who in the first place need a Pakistani platform to have a voice are pointing fingers at Pakistan.
Under the circumstances, boasting of such achievements is as pathetic as those Indian actors and other rich individuals who have escaped India and are now posting pictures of them enjoying life on tropical beaches thus rubbing salt into those gasping for life back home.
I'm sure the world watching such horrors emerging out of India are applauding the GST collections.

Remind me to relate to you the story of King Pyrrhus of Epirus of the ancient Greeks some time.

Be rest assured, our concern is selfish. Your suffering will spread to us eventually.
Yes it could spread. Hopefully you'll be as critical about Imran Khan as you are with Modi. Pakistan has of now has no economic means to effectively tackle any sort of wave. It's just been lucky some how with very little connection with the outside world compared to India.

Sir, Modi understands Indians very well it would seem. They don't mind choking to death as long as the governmental coffers are lined. This is certainly an unexpected application of JFK's mantra:

Its pathetic that in a thread about GST collections in India, momins have to open their vitriol for Modi. But it is hilarious too that they have to validate their rants among themselves on the thread. Lol.
