India formally allows foreign investment from Pakistan | Reuters

(Reuters) - The government on Wednesday formally allowed foreign direct investment (FDI) from Pakistan, the latest in a series of confidence building measures to build trust between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Pakistani citizens and companies will be allowed to invest in all sectors apart from defence, space and atomic energy, a government statement said. The move to allow FDI from Pakistan had been announced by India's trade minister earlier this year.

India and Pakistan have fought three wars since they broke from British colonial rule in 1947.

Both sides have implemented measures to improve trade and business ties, as they slowly rebuild relations that were shattered by the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

i oppose this move, atleast there shouldnt be any trade exchange from pakistan and bharat

. .
Good move by India, Pakistan will reciprocate and India has lot to offer to Pakistan than Pakistan to India. We will get a new market for our domestic industries in another neighbor. It will also help in infrastructure development and know-how transfer.

Good move!
Indo-Pak relations should not only be about lobbing shells and rockets, or exchanging protest note and demarches. Trade is a great connector. It it works between people to people. So only the people who want to trade will trade and make money; while those who do not want to can just remain by-standers. While the respective Govts. can remain confined to the role of facilitators while they scratch their heads and finally decide what to do with each other.

Bilateral trade still holds great possibilities and can even provide gainful employment on each side.

Indian government is doing right by allowing pakistan to invest in our country...Tommorow if any terrorists attack take place then india can freeze all there assets and investments here and can be tit for tat without using military..!!!!;)

Alright-tell all your politicians to return their Range and Land Rovers immediately! Such a stupid and ignorant statement, it really is.

india has a lot to offer so did many chinese products which failed, it all depends on consumers, they dont always compromise on cheaper products with quality

Excellent news. Only way for Pakistani domestic firms to be more cost effective and globally competitive. Initially it may see some flight of capital out of Pakistan, but later on the trend will reverse, as Pakistan has a lot of room to develop. Cheers!

You made a quite valid point but the thing is Pakistani consumer is almost similar to that of an Indian consumer which is not the case when compared to a Chinese consumer .
Hence India has a lot to offer in Pakistani markets and i am sure the bussiness will excell in Pakistan
