Contrary nuclear radiations are used in the treatment of cancer, radiotherapy in medical words. I agree with the intentions of your post - nuclear weapons are strategic weapons, they are like hathi kay dant, not necessarily meant to be used. To understand it lets put Pakistani nukes aside for a while and talk about Indian nukes, they are not made exclusively to check Pakistan, a factor called China is also there in fact its the major one. Likewise Pakistani nukes are not exclusive for India, they also protect Pakistani interests which certainly can be overlooked by west if we don't possess nukes. For your reasoning to be materialized the whole world will have to be rebuilt on the basis on humanity, I wonder if that is possible!!

The number of nuclear warheads is only going to increase. Just count the number of warheads required which will be deployed in case the naval deterrent is an MIRV. In fact, with SSBN deployment, the warheads will be mated with a delivery system and be a complete weapon system for the first time in Indian military history. A 24 hr ready nuclear deterrent.
