India could host World Cup 2026: Blatter

India was defeated by Australia 4-0 , just a couple of days back in Asia cup. Its hard for the team to manage a draw even in asian scenario. I think the next match is tommorow, hope India does something that justifies their selection as a host.

Dude, India WILL NOT host the WC in 2026. It's not possible according to FIFA regulations.

And regarding the Asia Cup, it was an achievement to just get there. The other two teams in our group are Bahrain and South Korea, both extremely strong teams. A realistic target for us would be to keep the goals down to a minimum and maybe get a point out of the three matches. Don't get your hopes up too high.

What FIFA regulations?
So do you want to say that FIFA pres. was drunk while he was speaking this?

I know we wont be hosting it.But surprised to see the comment coming from Blatter.

regarding Asia cup, we were a depleted side in the match against Aussies, without 2 forward regulars including the captain. Anyway lets hope for some good performance.

We were on the right track earlier when Nehru cup football were held regularly with good teams from europe which included the old USSR, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Yugoslavia etc etc.. Even i have been to watch it in 1991, when it has held in my city , where Romania beat Hungary in finals..Nowadays the teams visiting are just central Asian teams+ srilanka and India, which has considerably downgraded the standards of the tournament. It was discontinued in 1997 and was started again 2007 and 2009 and guess what the winners both time were India.

after the way india handled the commonwealth games as the commonwealth games was a casuality to sports. the world cup or olympics at india? never going to happen.

Go and say it to Blatter.

commonwealth games was a success

"Delhi has performed," said Fennell. "The competition has gone well, the venues were of a high standard and the athletes are happy.

"We had to deal with a number of issues but the end result has been good."

*Testing Testing* one two three
Is this the Olympic chief or FIFA president speaking?

Your thoughts are yours, can't argue, but they surely aren't of IOC chief and FIFA pres.!

In our dreams! We had a barely successful CWG and people are hyped over hosting the Olympics and the FIFA WC. We really need a reality check.

Its not that we dont have the capability or the resources to hold an event of such a scale. We most certainly do and 15 years will give us a lot of time to ramp up. But what we need first is a team or participants who will give us a decent shot at making it to the knockout stages. And I dont think we will have that by 2026. We need a good team first. Rest can come later.

I agree we need to put the foundations in place first and the infrastructure b4 we commit to WC or Olympic bids

It was nice of Blatter to boost the morale of our young and budding players this way, but then a few years back when he visited Kolkata and watched a match between East bengal ( captained by Baichung ) and Mohan Bagan captained by ( goan Alvito de Cunha ) he wasn't too optimistic .

All that he promised and delivered were increased grants with no provisions or plans chalked out to improve football standards or have effective talent scouting and training programs . Even for the Asian Cup , the Indian Team was made to train in as many as 7 friendlies outside the country against 2nd rate club sides in Portugal etc. A friendly against a relatively strong team in NKorea was cancelled .

The attempts to draw foreign coaches to our shores , shore up our infrastructure in the form of Stadia , fitness strength and tactical training is non existant .....our domestic leagues haphazardly organized in the form of the I - league , Santosh trophy etc ( one of the major problems Identified by Bob Houghton ) is still to be restructured by the AIFF . Their marketing policies of the sport in the traditional strong holds of Football in our country i.e West Bengal , North East , Punjab , Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir , where the popularity and viewership of the sport peaks is utterly in doldrums .

Bureaucracy has long proved to be a veritable bane of sports , with the AIFF officials disregarding the immense experience of Bob Houghton and arguing when he emphasizes on physique ( height and strength rather than skill. Indians are most suited for European styles of play - our ball control skills are simply not at par with Latin American teams . While most players and playing staff understand this , the administrators resenting the expense incurred at extensive talent search programs refuse to co-operate.

We need new strategies to deal with the development of quality football , The marketing responsibilities should be entirely transfered to private organizations and make them responsible for funding talent scout programs while the Sports ministry should invest greatly in stadia , academies and training infrastructure and attempt to bring international quality teams to compete against us in India. A pool of 200-300 talented players should be handed lucrative permanent contracts and groomed extensively for exclusive national duty.

no need to waste money on world cup when we cannot able to qualify. it would cost 50 bn dollar atleast, can't afford..

and funny thing in 2026 or even 2080 world cup there will be no indian team there hahhhahhaha . damn s asia is cricket lover.
