Few questions to those who are opposing this move.
1. Money to be transferred through account and everyone needs to have an account. Is it not a good idea?
2. If subsidies can take 3/4% of GDP and same amount is spent what's the issue?
3. If everyone having an account takes salary then won't it stop some nonsense schemes by states like 1 rupee chai and chawal? Where they take centre money and give freebees in the name of votes?
4. When you can stop state expenditures on this then are you not saving a large corpus of funds ?
5. Reduction of poverty target is .5% I think that's conservative? Is it not?
6. I agree that idea has demerits but has NO merit needs to be justified.
So take your time and come back with answers. It's a nice thing to debate.

The question is how long. Reservation was started as a experiment for 15 years and see where it is now. Mayawati has declared Reservation is their birth right now and for centuries to come. it is political suicide to touch it.
The same way this scheme has all the chances to become an economic dragger. It's injustice to treat people like beggars giving them doleouts every month. They should be provided employment training in various sectors and govt can implement those through various NGO's and dept.
The current plans of PDS and providing subsidy through it and recording the same through Aadhar card also reduces corruption. It also ensures the end user is not sleeping hungry. Can you provide me one point that the money will be used by the people for the intended purpose?
We can provide money on subsidies wherever possible (where basic necessities of life arent affected) like LPG's, Senior citizens benefit, even to unemployed youth's for a certain period. But this UBI will create laziness among our people. Moreover have seen people do various idiotic activities for drinking, betting and what not. I wouldnt want cash to be handed over to people with sadistic mindset where women's are left at their mercy.
On 5, poverty has decreased to 22% from 70% even without UBI. Which means other policies are also working. How can we ensure this UBI will reduce poverty in faster rate? UBI has been failure elsewhere. If this policy is just to reduce govt expenditure, then I shall oppose it tooth and nail. Poverty alleviation should be our priority. When poverty is abolished then we might not need subsidies or UBI.
Reg Ques 3, states, its their wish to utilise the money as per their policy. That's how things work in a federal democracy. States are not getting doleouts. The Amma Canteens (now copied and implemented in MP and Delhi) are funded from State money. Even if UBI is implemented, states wont stop these schemes. These are socialist schemes and wont be touched.
On 6, UBI has not been successfully implemented anywhere. Anywhere it means, countries with small landmass and small population. The nearest failure to us is Pakistan. We need to learn from it. It has more de-merits in case of India, where more population is un-documented or cut off from digital world.
