'India can learn from Bangladesh on women's empowerment'

let don't get started,i have enough knowledge of your so called society and its history.

Pat Robertson tells man he should move to Saudi Arabia so he can beat his wife | Daily Mail Online

There are some videos on YouTube in which Muslim Cleric Explains the perfect procedure as to how to beat Your Wife.

Show me the video please. But anyway, I presume you will cherry pick a bad apple and a cleric who the masses do not conform to. Even worse, you brought forward Saudia as an example, it's not the best example of a Muslim country.

We're getting off topic here guys - the thread is about women's empowerment in Bangladesh, not Saudi or the Muslim world...:offtopic::offpost:

Entirely different topic. Women's empowerment has to do with culture and to some degree class - please don't bring religion into it.

BD social work is really good. They implement their projects on the ground very well as compared to Indias but the 2 nations non government orgs to work together and trade information and use of best tactics for social programs. However, with India, its a job on state level not federal, where BD it is fed pushed.

I'd say that Bangladesh has benefitted from awareness at all class levels about social ills.

Even higher class and/or very meritorious kids get involved in NGO's after graduation, so the grassroots NGO activities benefit from higher talent infusion.

Two of the largest NGO's here are Grameen and BRAC and both host hundreds of trainees from all SAARC countries every year. SAARC - by the way was also a Bangladesh initiative.

All these movements started back in the late 70's.

PM, main opposition, Speaker, and the DM are females. One would expect that this estrogen powered Govt would initiate programs to advance the girls who would otherwise receive less support.

Just my .02.

I know that Indian men are mostly women beaters if that's what you mean by "masculine culture". In a Muslim society our daughters and wives are loved.

1. Why illegal brothels in India are filled with Bangladeshi women ?
2. Why Islam advocates beating women to discipline her ?

BD had a very socialist agenda because in those times, they understood the dire situation of their new nation and accepted their responsibility and on top of that, they had cooperation from India and the UN and became a model nation for social programs and avenue for UN social programs opened up that were not plagued with Soviet or American politics.

Thats a human trafficking issue also an issue with India Nepal etc... and Islam is not at fault. It is and can not be a reason for all ails in the world or BD. Infact BD is very socialist on the government level.

1. I find this hard to believe
2. only in extreme situation can husband take 'physical action' with limits of course. parents can also exercise that on children in extreme situation. Islam does not advocate beating, but severely restricts beating. that is probably why you, as an Indian male, hate Islam so much.

.
1. I find this hard to believe

It's quite common actually. The law enforcement agencies are having a hard time dealing with it.

Rescued from brothels, 172 Bangladeshi girls are waiting to go home

Bangladeshi woman rescued from brothel

Bangladesh's women take rocky road to India in search of freedom and cash

I wonder, why the Islamic laws talk only about a male disciplining a female and not discipline in general in a family. Anyways,my point is, religion, no matter which one it is, have loopholes and we should not be trying to judge that based on a different time-frame.

I believe this only happens in rare cases and with people duping hapless ignorant teen-age girls, promising them legal careers and money, which turns into a sad situation.

But let's focus into the main problem - which is, if there was no demand for these girls, this would not happen. The question is why? What are the lax law enforcement officers in large cities in India doing? Getting their share of the proceeds and turning a blind eye as usual?

I have some serious doubt that these women (whether they are Bengali from West Bengal or Bangladesh itself) are choosing this career by themselves. No woman knowingly chooses this as a career.

What kind of a sick chauvinist mentality do you have to have to blame girls for being in a brothel??

And the Indian media also jumping in as if these women chose to do this. These women - if anything, need rehabilitation and not mistreatment or having fingers pointed at them. Typical third-rate selfish gandoo mentality. No one in India helping out, so Bangladeshi NGO's as usual taking up the mantle and doing what they do best.

Have some shame...

Demand for sex as a service is omnipresent and prostitution is one of the oldest profession of mankind. There are brothels in Bangladesh too, quite big ones, are you not aware ? But the money earned is more in India.

You may feel hurt and ashamed due to the fact that women from your country illegally immigrate to India to work in the business of selling their body and thereby resort to name-calling, but that does not change the facts, not one little bit.

You should have some shame rather, for the reason instead of appreciating the gravity of the situation, you are trying to brush it under the carpet.

I have quoted the reports from multiple Indian as well as non-India sources that give a clear picture of the case. All the girls apprehended are Bangladeshi and they do all this for the money.

Dirty wishes of a stupid Indian.

So what?

I think your agenda here is to paint Bangladesh as what - a country full of brothel-girls? Unlike in India we help our girls and not shun them like in misogynist India.

You realize how ridiculous this is? Why does putting a 'Bangladeshi' label on them make this country any better or worse?

For the record - there are more than a million hapless illegal Indians working in Bangladesh, scraping together a living somehow. Are we going around putting big articles in newspapers painting them as 'Indians' as if they did something wrong? Since when is looking for work and supporting your family a crime? The difference is we're not as communal and narrow-minded as some people in India are...

Remittances: how much money do migrants send home? – interactive | Global development | theguardian.com

Use the interactive above and click on India as a map.

Indians remit about $3.7 Billion yearly to India from Bangladesh. In spite of having three times as many Bangladeshis in India (3.3 million vs. 1.1 million Indians in Bangladesh), return remittance is less than double ($5.7 Billion). And these are 2013 figures. Current remittances to India are probably lot higher, because Bangladesh economy and industrialization is on a rapid upswing.

Poor people in bad situation will need jobs and cross borders. If you have money, build a higher fence, so your people don't cross over to Bangladesh or vice versa. Do something.

If you can't then tell your RSS and Shivsena compatriots to stop whining in the media. Put up or shut up.
