India benefiting from Pakistani SC’s judgments: Ajit Prakash

LAHORE - Justice (R) Ajit Prakash Shah, former chief justice of Delhi and Madras High Courts of India visited the Lahore High Court on Saturday.

The honourable guest delivered a thought-provoking lecture on the topics of “International Human Rights Law – Indian Perspective and Judicial Globalisation – Indian Experience”.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial and other honourable judges as well as officers of the LHC were present on the occasion. Justice Ajit Prakash discussed the use of international human rights law and decisions rendered in this context by Supreme Court of India.

He also appreciated a number of judgments rendered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and disclosed that India was benefiting from these landmark judgments.

While speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial welcomed the distinguished guest and extended the invitation for Indian counterparts to visit Pakistan. Earlier, the chief justice while talking to the guest briefed him about the development activities and restoration work of the Lahore High Court’s splendid building to its original shape.

Later, the chief justice presented a souvenir of the Lahore High Court as a memento and a CD containing important human right cases rendered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan to the honourable guest.

The moving spirit behind this exercise was that Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah received the visiting judge and introduced him to the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, Justice Mansoor underlined the need for regularly engaging intellectuals for delivering such lectures. LHC Registrar Habibullah Amir conducted the proceedings
