India thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan 4-0 in the opening match of the Champions Trophy hockey tournament at Breda in Netherlands on Saturday. Ramandeep Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Mandeep Singh and Lalit Upadhyay scored for the men in blue who completely dominated their opponents throughout the match. Three goals in the last ten minutes helped India finish off things in style in their opening match of the tournament. Ramandeep Singh got India going with a 25th-minute strike.

. . . . .
This score isn't a very correct reflection of the team's performance for anyone who didn't watch the match. It was 1-0 till the last 10 minutes of the match & Pakistan kept very good pressure in the second half of the game. Also Pakistan played last 7 minutes without a goalkeeper to add an extra player in the field. A bad decision indeed.

Good effort by Pakistani Hockey team based on resources we spend it is miracle we have a team

Yea - but would help India in the Goal Difference.

if you keep selecting players based on their provincial links than on merits, it is bound to happen, first its the big province then its the specific clan of the province and then its usually relative of the head of clan and then it is gone to the dogs. cricket itself has been destroyed by this policy is kept on ventilator by sarfraz ahmed who is the only non provincial player in the team and people already going crazy if the team is from the province than why sarfraz ahmed a non provincial guy is leading the team, calling for his head.

Hockey Has Really Gone To The Dogs In Pakistan:tsk::tsk::tsk:
YEs, if you get rid of the Cricket Mafia then other sports will grow. I love field hockey and cant stand cricket. I used to follow Pak team and their field play techniques together with holland and aussies. but now they are completely outclassed.

no focus or support is the cause.

No friend... please dont use dear; i see this being used a lot by indians. Man, here it will get you a blow on your face - you are implying being moffie. Cultural differences.....

I dont think it is corruption; it is cricket corruption that is messing up everything. Here all sports get equal time, sponsorship. We are a sports mad mad country - boxing, atheltics, swimming, football, rugby, cricket, auto racing, cycling. Weekend is full of activities right across from school, town, provincial, or international events.

Here, sportsmen are running away (except the cricketers of course).

We have talent but talent alone is not enough for international level competitions, you need sponsorship(govt or private) to finance the athlete's coaching, training, gym and nutrition. Our sportsmen get nothing of it.
What he's saying is that he had support of a Korean sponsor before now he's not at good terms with him. Govt doesn't support him so he's considering not fighting for the country anymore.

To compete with other players who enjoy top notch coaching and training facilities you need to have those as well along with total dedication which many here find it difficult to give, many players are poor and they can't afford to invest a large sum of their money on training/gym programs. At least the national champions should be sponsored to enhance their skill level.
