India, Bangladesh need to work together in textile sector: High Commissioner

My guess is India does not qualify in that list. However there is no harm in extending your begging bowl.

Much unlike you, we don't need Chinese help for our industries. Our textile industry is mostly homegrown & we have entrepreneurs who have the funds. And if you didn't know, we are not a basket case LDC with one industry.

And it's Bangladesh which is running around with a begging bowl. Bangladesh might probably have the highest ODA to GDP ratio in the region, after an earthquake hit Nepal & little Bhutan.

Earlier this month, the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) approved its first-ever loan for a project in India. The AIIB will lend $160 million to back a power project in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. India is a founding member of the AIIB, where it is the second-largest shareholder, behind China.

The AIIB is a development bank first announced by China in October 2013, at the same time Chinese President Xi Jinping introduced the Silk Road Economic Belt and Maritime Silk Road initiatives — the two pillars of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The bank began operations in January 2016.

According to a release by the AIIB, the $160 million loan will go toward the 24×7 Power for All initiative “with the objective to strengthen the power transmission and distribution system in the State of Andhra Pradesh.” The Power for All initiative was launched in 2014 by the government of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make the establishment of power supply infrastructure across the country a priority.

What supa powa syndrome?

Doesn't BD recieve billions of dollars as ODA from several countries, including India ?

I knew about Bangladesh importing used textile machinery from some reports by an Indian textile machinery manufacturer presently operating in your country.

These are merely facts, not rhetoric.

Lol, what are you going to produce when you move up the value chain? Aramid or carbon fiber? Or any other technical textile?

Try producing spares for textile machinery first. Your BMTF tried & failed miserably.

How much remittance did those 500,000 Indians in BD send to India ? That'll show you the reality of what Indians are doing.

Says the guy with the crystal ball. Is it another claim like 160 4+ gen fighters by 2030 ?

With 55% GDP (PPP) per capita of that of India, Bangladesh is quite rich even compared to Scandinavia.

Well someone did claim that cement consumption is lower in BD because they use tiled roofs there.

WTF dhoti, when did Bangladesh receive ODA from India? Do you even know the meaning of ODA?

India is by far the largest recipient of ODAs in the region.

And who said there are 500,000 Indians in Bangladesh? They are in millions going with their presence in the menial jobs. Our government still haven't conducted any census for illegal Indians in Bangladesh, good for them.

Bangladesh criticizes India’s cotton exports ban

Bangladesh has criticized the ban on cotton exports recently imposed by India, calling it ‘unfortunate’ and ‘against the norms of international trade’, reports IANS.

M Ghulam Hossain, Commerce Secretary of Bangladesh, stated at a press conference that the ban might pose a threat to their garment industry, considering that India is one of the largest producers of cotton.

Hossain stated that the garment sector of Bangladesh brings in nearly 76 percent of the country’s total export earnings. He also went on to state that they are looking for other sources like Australia, Uzbekistan and the US.

The Indian government imposed the ban on Monday, citing reasons that it is building up its domestic stock amid fears of a low yield this year, according to the officials of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), who were present at the press conference.

"India banned export of cotton leaving aside trade rules and regulations. We think it is against the norms of international trade," Hossain stated at the conference.

He has also written to authorities to India to withdraw the ban immediately.

There you have Katulya in action. We ought to declare, officially, India as a non-friend. We must curtail travel to India, and commerce with that country.Instead further augment commerce with China, Thailand, Pakistan, etc.

.
LMAO millions? Don't pull random figures out of your ***. 500,000 is your government's figure & it shows the Indians earn far more in Bangladesh than any illegal lungi earn in India.

500,000 figure is for illegal Indians and that is from 2009. I would think as the
BD economy has boomed since then the figure could easily have passed 1 million by now.
