(Looks like retard)

Chinese dissident Dolkun Isa's visa has been withdrawn, say sources

NEW DELHI: India has withdrawn the visa granted to a Chinese dissident after Beijing's strong protest, top government sources have said.

Dolkun Isa, a Germany-based Uyghur activist, had been granted a visa to attend a conference in Dharamsala this week.

It was seen by many as India's payback after China repeatedly justified blocking New Delhi's proposal at the UN to designate Pakistan-based Jaish e Mohammad Chief Masood Azhar a terrorist.

China accuses Dolkun Isa of terror activities in the remote Xinjiang region where there is frequent violence between the local Uyghur population and government forces.

Speaking exclusively to NDTV on the phone from Germany, Mr Isa said he had an electronic visa to come to India for a pro-democracy conference which the Dalai Lama is also expected to attend.

"I haven't decided yet on whether to come to India... I have got an electronic visa. The Chinese government is not happy, India should guarantee my security and free movement", he said.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in a statement, referred to an Interpol red corner notice against Isa and said: "Bringing him to justice is a due obligation of relevant countries."

So China agreed to internally withdraw the technical hold at UN, I guess.

Indians need to understand that they cannot give tit for tat response to China. China is an influential global player with VETO power while India is nowhere in that scene. India needs China, if it is to accomplish it's global interests.

It should not have been provided the visa in first place..... Now that they have withdrawn, I hope the objective is achieved........

will need confirmation, I hope they did though, China gain nothing by providing cover to known terrorists like him.

It is not easy to make India back off and it was never . it looks like something give and take . Pakistani posters should not jump before the full story to come out.

It was absolutely the right strategy - reminders need to given, pressure created, concessions extracted. If China does not know it's actions will have direct consequences adversely affecting their interests, they will never reform their dual standards.

It was the right strategy, let's hope they haven't withdrawn it without getting anything in return. If it is a unilateral withdrawal under pressure then that's a blunder.

Spot on, lets wait and see how this unfolds now.

Absolutely agree, I can't believe they would be fools enough to buckle down without any gains. If that is the case then it is a monumental blunder as it would leave all of India's future actions and words worthless

After the Pakistan debacle, I wouldn't trust this govt blindly. They are capable of such blunders. Let's wait and see.
