NEW DELHI: As tension simmers between India and Pakistan over recent developments in Kashmir, India has asked its diplomats and other officials to withdraw their kids from local schools in Islamabad.

Indian officials can either send their kids back to India or return themselves, official sources said.

"What it means is that no Indian official based in Pakistan can have his or her children living with them. Those who seek a posting in Pakistan will have to keep that in mind too," an official here told TOI. Spouses, however, can remain in Pakistan for now.

There are about 50 children of Indian officials currently studying in Islamabad's American School. Indian officials did not rule out the possibility of a "tit-for-tat" response by Islamabad in the form of recall of children of Pakistan diplomats from India.

"It is a normal practice for all countries to review staffing and related policies for their diplomatic missions, including in view of prevailing circumstances at those stations. With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the High Commission of India in Islamabad have been advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan, till further notice," said MEA spokesperson vikas Swarup. Officials, however, added that the decision had been taken in 2015 so that diplomatic staff had sufficient time to make alternative arrangements.

After the protests against India in Pakistan over alleged Indian atrocities in Kashmir, the Indian government had appealed to Pakistan to strengthen security for Indian officials stationed there.

"In view of the threats of marches and protests at the high commission of India in Islamabad, we ask the government of Pakistan to ensure full safety and security of the high commission, all its officials and their families in Pakistan," the government had said in a statement after Pakistan observed a "black day" and Kashmir's Accession to Pakistan Day.

Sources here said the government didn't want to take any chance with more protests likely against India in Pakistan in the next few days. Some of these protests, which have openly called for jihad against India, have been led by UN-designated terrorists.

At one such event on Sunday, the Mumbai attack accused and JuD chief Hafiz Saeed announced that he will seek Indian visas for a JuD team, which planned to visit Kashmir. Pakistan continues to maintain that JuD is mostly involved in charity work and adept at providing relief to victims of natural disasters.

Indian officials brushed aside reports about JuD seeking Indian visas as yet another provocative comment from Saeed. In any case, they have not yet approached Indian authorities for visas.

One reason why India had to recall school kids from Pakistan, said sources here, was that the strife over Kashmir did not look like abating anytime soon. According to India, Pakistan, instead of toning down the rhetoric, has further aroused passion with its PM Nawaz Sharif declaring last week that one day Kashmir would become Pakistan.

More than 60 schoolchildren of Indian diplomats inPakistan would not resume their classes from the next quarter under a recent decision taken by New Delhi for multiple reasons.

The Indian government has declared Pakistan a "No School-Going Mission," asking staff members of the Indian High Commission (IHC) to either return or send theirschool going children back to India, the Daily Times quoted official sources, as saying.

The decision was taken as India is concerned about the security of their young nationals after the Army Public School attack in Peshawar in December 2014.

Another reason was the restriction on the free movement of the Indian students. Whenever the school administration planned a trip outside Islamabad, Indian students have to seek prior approval from the Pakistani Foreign Office.

Under the "No School-Going Mission," diplomatic staff is not allowed to make their school-going children stay with them. However, their spouses are allowed to stay.

This decision would compel many staffers of the IHC, in Islamabad, to return to India for the sake of the education of their children. In case they wish to continue to serve the IHC, they must send their children back to India.

Sources said the IHC had already communicated the decision to Pakistan's Foreign Office and the school authorities.

Both the Foreign Office and the school authorities had reportedly requested the Indian government to review the decision, but New Delhi is said to have refused.

After the decision, Pakistani diplomats fear it would further strain relations between the two neighbours.

New Delhi: India has asked its diplomats posted in Pakistan to shift their wards out of schools in the country due to security reasons.

A statement from external affairs ministry spokesman Vikas Swarup said as per normal practice, India had reviewed staffing and related policies for its mission in Islamabad, “including in view of prevailing circumstances at those stations”.

“With effect from this academic session, officials posted in the high commission of India in Islamabad have been advised to make arrangements for education of their wards outside Pakistan, till further notice,” Swarup said in a statement.

According to people familiar with the developments, India took this decision in June last year and communicated it to its Islamabad mission staff. This was to ensure there was enough time for the students and their guardians to make alternative arrangements.

“The decision has been taken following the December 2014 attack on the school in Peshawar,” said one of the persons familiar with the developments cited above.

The person was referring to an attack by militants of the Pakistani Taliban who targeted an army-run school in Peshawar, northwestern Pakistan, in December 2014. The attack left more than 140 people dead, including 132 children.

The attack was described as one of the Taliban’s deadliest in Pakistan. India’s mission in Pakistan is guarded by a heavy security cordon. India says many anti-India terrorist groups have bases or training camps in Pakistan, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed and the Lashkar-e-Toiba.

India accuses the Lashkar-e-Toiba as well as members of the Haqqani militant group of targeting Indian interests in Afghanistan including attacks on the Indian embassy in 2008. Two Indian diplomats were among the four Indians killed at the Indian embassy in a car bomb attack on 7 July 2008.

Not possible if the we considers the humanitarian cause ,since a lots of patients from there seeks help in India .

Better send your kids to a good school in India or somewhere better. Safety of the diplomats families must be the prime motive of the Indian mission in Islamabad.
We cannot expect the Pakistani establishment to provide security to the Indian kids in Islamabad's schools 24*7.

When you tried posting this thread you would have seen a similar thread already posted in the "correct" section.

You also know this thread is inappropriate for Indian Defence Section.

Am i to understand for sake of promoting sensationalism and trolling you still went ahead and posted it here?

Have some sense and please follow rules appropriately.. If you keep increasing the workload of the PDF management and Moderators with mindless pursuit of making threads again and again in wrong section, then i will be forced to request a ban on you for breaking rules day in and day out.

Same for me , but it does not gives us authority to decide for my Sikh Brothers . Most Hindus won't be happy if China closes Mansarovar Kailash Yatra due to India's 18% populations stance....

Well Amarnath Yatra was postponed several times .Kailasa Yatra also would postpone if there is any type of serious crisis in there .But Hindus would take that as usual .
