Indian Minister of State for Defence Rao Inderjit Singh struck an alarmist tone on Saturday, saying India is concerned that extremist groups such as Islamic State may get their hands on nuclear arms from Pakistan.

“With the rise of ISIS in West Asia, one is afraid to an extent that perhaps they might get access to a nuclear arsenal from states like Pakistan,” Singh said on Saturday on the sidelines of the Shangri-La regional security conference in Singapore, Bloomberg reported.

Singh went on to add that if Pakistan develops technology that enables its submarines to carry nuclearwarheads, “it would just be a step further in arming their defense services.”

India has also been criticised for the quality of its nuclear security. India’s nuclear materials security conditions were adversely affected by the continued increase in its quantities of nuclear material, as well as high levels of corruption among public officials, The Washington-based Nuclear Threat Initiative said last year.

In the latest issue of its propaganda magazine, Dabiq, the Islamic State (IS) suggested that the terrorist group is expanding so rapidly that it will buy its first nuclear weapon from Pakistan within a year.

The article, which the group attributes to British hostage John Cantlie, says that the IS surpassed its roots as “the most explosive Islamic ‘group’ in the modern world” to evolve into “the most explosive Islamic movement the modern world has ever seen” in less than twelve months.

The government has flip-flopped on its position on Islamic State with the Foreign Office saying the militant group posed a threat to the country just days after the interior minister had denied the presence of Islamic State in South Asia, particularly Pakistan.

“The government is on alert to the IS threat in the region,” Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry had said while briefing the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in Islamabad at Parliament in February.

The foreign secretary had said the government has directed all concerned authorities to ensure that no organisation or individual remain in contact with IS in the country.

Earlier in May, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested two men in Nothia Bazaar area of Peshawar for reportedly distributing IS pamphlets.

Ghulam Muhammad and Lal Muhammad were picked up in a raid from their hideout, a CTD official told The Express Tribune.

The accused were shifted to an undisclosed location, police officials further said. The duo was distributing pamphlets in Pashto and Persian, urging people to join the Islamic State.

The ultra-extremist Middle Eastern terrorist group, the Islamic State, and its affiliate Jundullah claimed responsibility for the May 12 bus attack in Karachi which claimed more the 40 lives.

The article originally appeared on Bloomberg.

They're not being alarmist, rather trying to put the spot light back on our nukes. It's dirty pysops! The Indians are really afraid of our capability to turn their land to glass. So, they're running around like headless chickens to whip-up world hysteria.

P.S Keep reading the daesh comin book, Indians!

India is afraid of Pakistan's nuclear weapons , I recall that once they had done the explosion , ahead of Pakistan , they became very cocky and even started many rounds of firing on india Pakistan border with claims that Pakistan cannot even make toothpaste and we are now nuclear power blah blah , then when Pakistan did the explosion , its tore such huge hole in their back side that they have been reeling in pain ever since.

India saw 9/11 and american intervention in afghanistan as an opportunity , the opportunity was that india egss on america, america takes on Pakistan and in the process neutralizes Pakistan's nuclear capabilities.

None of that worked , now they are trying to use the situation in Syria and Iraq the same way.

Bottom line is they are scared shit less of our nuclear capability. and by hook or crook want it neutralized.

baghdadi is a pal , we will give him 2-3 for free ...
Disgusting Indians and their insecurities

I read once, there was an article on poor security and incompetent guards overseeing India's nuclear facilities. I think its rather funny that these guys are always afraid of extremes. On one side they are afraid of nuclear weapons and on the other side they are afraid of birds and camels spying and yet another extreme where Jupiter and Venus join the ranks of spies. Like what do these people think? Is it something in their food that makes them go dum dumb?

Meanwhile 2500 died due to heatwave they are more interested in their usual paranoia. Even there they blame Pakistan for sending hot air. There is a time when stupidity stops being funny even if its Indian.

Who gives a shi* of what Indians think of Pakistan and it's nuclear deterrence? Cry cry little baby, impotent Uncle Sam is listening, however, when both of your feelings get hurt, you can butt fvck each other to calm your sentiments....... wankers!

Since when Uncle Sam become Impotent ? :what:

India is also 'afraid' of pigeons. Doesn't mean we should take their propagandist 'concerns' and 'fears' any more seriously.

Rest assured, Pakistan's nukes are perfectly safe and there is no chance of anything like this ever happening.

India can go back to worrying about the couple of thousand people that died of heat, or the pigeons that keep bothering their border guards.

I don't buy ISIS getting access to any thing in pakistan.....

Unlike DM's childish remark such as India will use terrorist to kill terrorist, this is a genuine concern. However, if ISIS gets the nuke, it is Europe and US that are in danger than is India.

All the nukes from the planet has to go. There is no other ways.

I am afraid if the Indian government supported Hindu extremists aren't controlled, and they continue to kill and forcefully convert Christians and Muslims, India might become a recruiting ground for these ISIS basterds. And I am not writing this post without utter sincerity.

When you kill, torture your minorities and there is no justice, it eventually brings out rebellion and violence. India is a growing country with a great potential to be a regional power one day. She should be careful in making sure all of her citizens are treated the same, without threats of persecution, torture or killing of minorities.

This post here makes no sense. Why Bloomberg didn't post an article about how many people got killed in India last week by Hindu extremists (yet ONE more event took place, its becoming a daily issue).

You forget that the strongest institution in pakistan is the military itself, and nukes are not some little toys that some rag tags can go pick up.... In my view, the this idea is quite far-fetched....

If the fear is ISIS can penitrate Pakistani Mil ranks and obtain Nukes, why isn't the mighty Intel agencies doing it, on the flipside if the security is in question then the second largest army should step in to do the same... the bottom line this is not going to happen.
