Who needs to sing a song in the local language to understand it's meaning? Anyone can get a good translation but still can enjoy the original song. It's a silly excuse to justify the Tamillizing of SL anthem. I mean your justification has raised my eyebrows also. Do Tamils need to do things like this to feel that they are belong to Sri Lanka? Otherwise do they feel left out. This really is a bad thing. It's pity that the minority needs tamilizing the national anthem to get the feel that they are belong to Sri Lanka.

Stadium is a white elephant project? WTF? Stadiums are built to host sport matches and to develop popularity of the sport in the area. We have play grounds in Dambulla and Pallekale also. Are these white elephants too? It seems that you cherry pick things from the greater H'tota project and present them to fullfill your aims. Don't you know many things that were built in H'tota are centered around the harbor? Or are you just playing dumb?

International Stadiums arent built for Schhols kids to play you idiot! MR should have built some small cricket grounds in the local schools instead of taking massive loans on such useless projects.

So well if something did at Independence in 1948 would give it a credibility and legitimacy? It was the old Kings flag that was used at the Independence but it was changed later on behalf of the "concerned" minorities. Do you think that was also wrong?

There should be only one anthem for a country. Take India for an example. Indian policy makers realized the dangers of different types of national anthems if allowed. So they stick to a one. That is how unity is preserved. Not by giving everything the cry baby wants. If Tamils feel belonging to Sri Lanka they should not feel left out when hearing the Sinhala anthem. They should sing it with the rest of the country. But this incident clearly indicates that Tamils don't like to respect the Sinhala anthem. They need another just to be equal with the "Sinhalese". Indian policy makers realized the dangers of different types of national anthems if allowed.

In the case of India, the anthem itself is from a minority language (Bengali)....but there are many localised pronunciations (transliterations)...given many of the languages stem/influenced from the same source (Sanskrit).

If India was a distinctly bilingual country, there would be no question that the anthem would be in 2 languages like Canada, Belgium, Finland, New Zealand etc.

Belgium actually goes so far to include their much smaller German speaking population as well, by having their anthem in German alongside French and Dutch.
